Best Casting For Batman Movies

With the new joker (heath ledger) being called into question i was wondering who you all thought was cast perfectly for their role in a Batman movie.

I personally think Jim Carrey cast as the riddler was the best casting job ever done in a Batman Flick, although Carrey is an unbelievable actor, picking him for the riddler was a genious move.

Like some people, I think Carrey was too other the top and cartoonish for a character of Riddler's stature. I'd say Cillian Murphy was just right for the Scarecrow (although a few think differently).

i agree with you completely.. i'm just a batman freak and a HUGE Jim Carrey fan. He was a bit over the top but his performance gave Batman a new comic relief villian that it hadn't had before.. although the movie blew as i blew chunks watching it.

So far I think the absolute best casting choice has been Gary Oldman as Gordon. He just got that character down to a T. As many people have said already, "its like he just came straight out of a comic book".

Second place, I'd have to say the original Alfred (his name escapes me right now). Though Caine is doing a good job, I think he was better.

Michael Gough is who played alfred in the originals and he did a good job. I'm actually not sure why they didn't bring him in to do batman begins, i understand using him in a new series of Batman films might be confusing, but he did such a good job and i just can't get the picture of michael caine playing austin powers' dad out of my head.

There's something else i've gotta get off my chest, wtf were they thinking casting Arnold for Freeze.

They didnt bring him back because they wanted to have Batman Begins stray as far away as possible from the Burton films.Being a restart in all they didnt want to have it associated with any of the previous films.a very good move on their part.thats why they didnt even bring back the theme song from the first film which I wasnt too happy about at first but eventually got over it when I understood the reasoning behind it.that being said,if were only talking supporting characters and not the main character, then I agree with Nofate that Oldman was the best out of them all so far.

Beasides of that reason that mr parker said, they didnt bring back him because now he is too old and he is ill. He is in his 80s.

Best casting: i specially like Christian Bale as Batman and Bruce Wayne, he nailed the character.

Cillian Murphy, Gary Oldman, Christian Bale

The best ever.

Here is the best casting for Batman films for me.

Batman/Bruce Wayne- Christan Bale and Micheal Keaton.
To me these two actors brought very different interruptions of Batman and Bruce Wayne, Keaton with the lost Bruce Wayne and tough Batman. But Bale nails both of them with his smooth talk with the ladies (One thing Keaton was lacking) And animal nature of Batman.

Catwoman/Selina Kyle- Michelle Pfeiffer.
To me Michelle brought the sexiness of Catwoman and the physopatic nature of Selina Kyle, and with dazzling chemistry on screen with Keaton she brought the character of Catwoman/Selina Kyle to justice.

Lt James Gordon- Gary Oldman.
Just no words need to describe Oldman`s performance he was brilliant and brought us fans a identical Batman Year One Lt James Gordon.

Alfred Pennyworth- Micheal Gough/Micheal Caine.
Again like the role of Batman these two actors brought different elements to the role. Gough brought his upper class performance of Alfred. Whereas Caine brought his more laid back but at the same time father figure as well as conscience for Bruce Wayne.

The Joker- Jack Nicholeson
Now credit should be given for Jack`s performance as the Joker. With his okay laugh and mean nature as Jack Napier. Jack gave us a dark Joker. But in "The Dark Knight." I hope that Ledger makes the Joker laugh less and more horrific. Like the Joker from the Killing Joke and the early Bob Kane issues of Batman.

I agree that Gary Oldman made a damn good Gordon... and I did like Cillian Murphy's performance as Scarecorw, even if he was too short, lol!

And I personally believe that Michael Gough is the one and only Alfred, well for me anyway... I just grew up with him as Alfred so he's the only one for me.

I don't know about Batman though... I liked Michael Keaton's performance, even though I know most of you don't agree with his physical characteristics when it came to the role, but acting wise I think he did a really good job...

And Michelle Pfeiffer was an amazing Catwoman, she wins hands down for best character in a Batman movie... she did an incredible job.

Hmmm... and that's all I can think of at the moment... there are others though, I'm sure........

I thought casting Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox was pretty good. But, the role was so obvious.

I didn't like Michael Caine at first, but he impressed me.

And, for the newest unknown role, of Two Face in The Dark Knight, I've been trying to think of someone. Maybe Dustin Hoffman, if he wasn't too old...

Jim carry done a great job as the riddler

Acting wise he did do a good job of Batman.Theres no question about that.As Batman,he was a better Batman than Kilmer. But acting wise as Bruce Wayne Keaton wasnt good and thats where Kilmer would get the edge there as being the better Bruce Wayne because he at least acted like Bruce wayne where Keaton just tried to copy Chris Reeves performance as superman being goofy and nerdy as Bruce Wayne but macho as Batman and thats not Batman at all.thats why Bale so far is the one and only true Batman to play the role because he was great as BOTH Batman AND Bruce Wayne. 😉

Cillian Murphy was PERFECT for The Scarecrow. I have always thought that Carrey was way too over the top for the Riddler, But so was tommy Lee Jones as Two face for that matter. Dont get me wrong, Tommy Lee Jones would have played a great Two Face if he would have been the less eccentric, darker version. But I always wanted to see Kevin Spacey as the riddler, with a more tonned down Genius version of Edward Nigma. With dark puzzle baised games of life and death. more the feel you get from Jigsaw in the Saw movies.
