CD-RW is blank but computer thinks different....

I'm trying to burn a CD and have been since last night but the computer is stupid. Right now I'm trying to use WMP 9 and it keeps telling me to insert a blank disc, but there IS a blank disc in. I checked on My Computer\E: and the disc is empty. I get the option to retry or cancel. I've tried it with RecordNow and it gives me the same error. Any help?

edit: I've also got another CD-RW where the contents (1 song) will NOT delete at all. It says I succesfully deleted it, yet it remains.

You need to have a separate drive maybe?

I'd suggest just not using CD-RW.... If you want a CD use a CD-R; they're dirt cheep and if you want to transfer files and what not... Use a memory stick, they're more reliable and they work on pretty much every computer.

Try reformating the disk, that should remove everything.

I didn't think that you could reformat CD's? Do you do that through system tools?

I've never seen CD-RW costing more than CD-R, I always buy RW when getting blank CDs, though my computer oddly treats CD-Rs as RWs.

I finally found a blank CD-R in this trash pile of a desk and it worked PERFECTLY! That was so gay.

Fair enough... I can't say I've bought CD-R's in a while... I have a huge 400 spindle on my desk and so I've been eating through that for about 2 years. I rarely burn CD's now anyway. Seems sort of pointless, all the music and files I need to transport, I can do with my iPod.

Normally it depends on the set up but if you right click on the drive with the disk in it you can select format disk, or doing it through the software as well.
