soldiers who joined the army joined cause they wanted to help..not cause they were idiots.. i find that offensive what kerry said..i never really liked him that much but it was always entertaining to try at a joke

Well, apparently that was not his meaning. He called George Bush an idiot. not the soldiers. And the truth is that soldiers do not all join because they want to serve..it is because they are poor or uneducated and do not have many other chances. That doesn't make them lesser people, it just well..makes them on average probably less smart as the College Students Kerry addressed.

Once again, he did not look stupid. He did look weak for caving in under the pressure of the idiocy of the media machine, but not stupid. Or maybe he is actually sorry that his intended comment was taken out of context and upset people, so he felt he should apologize. Whatever the reason, that does not make him look stupid.
