Maybe we should all go as specific characters... you know, someone could dress up like James with a sword through their stomach, someone could dress up like Will with a sword through their heart, someone could dress up like Swann with a bullet in their head, someone could dress up like Sao with shrapnel all over them... gee, I'm starting to see a pattern here.
Here's a question. Maybe its a plot hole question, maybe its a character question. What the heck is Lizzie thinking when she agrees to go with Sao? I mean, I know in the heat of the moment, it seems a like a good idea, an impulsively bratty way to get back at Will for being secretive and clever, a good way to solve the current dilemma while looking like the hero... but REALLY, she HAD TO KNOW what Sao wanted from her. She's not stupid. She's been around pirates enough. So was she just THAT CONFIDENT in her own ability to single-handedly deter his advances whilst on HIS ship full of HIS men, or what? Was she just not thinking about it? Or did she plan on going with the flow?
During the scene, she plays it like she is shocked and terrified by his advances or something. WHich makes no sense. So I guess my question is, WHAT WAS SHE THINKING?!

Ooh, good question. AWE is basically a movie about impulsive decisions...maybe all of POTC is, actually. I've only seen the movie once, but if I remember correctly, Sao thinks wants Elizabeth to go with him and Will is against the idea because she wasn't part of the deal (Will gets the charts/Sao gets the Pearl). I wonder if she thought things would get even more violent if she didn't go with him, like maybe Sao would just kill everybody right there. She likes to protect people, especially Will, even when she's mad at him, so that might have been part of it. It is a way to get back at him, also. She also sees that Sao is a powerful pirate and she might be able to get him to work with them.
As for what she expects, she is used to pirates as she should. I'm sure she knows Sao's interested in her, but in her mind, that's no different from Barbossa kind of flirting with her in their dinner scene in COTBP, James, Will, and Jack. She's been able to handle all of them and they've all respected her body minus Barbossa in COTBP when he kind of hands her over to the crew. But none of them would ever ever rape her, so I think when Sao tries to, the shock of it adds to the terror she's already feeling.
I'm witcha Miz WilloftheWisp, I think she was a. protec'ing and b. damn sure of herself and c. stepping off on Will's toes cos the woman appeared angry to me imo. Barbossa tried to tell her about Sao Feng, mean as him without the manners. After he tried to kiss her, she asks well, there's if I wanna; what happens if I don't wanna, and he flat out says then I accept your anger. Man was definitely outta his league--of course the timber through your chest will impede your forward progress. ohhh, classy interpret Miz Kateloves, "bratty" that's our Elisabeth.
Well, I just figured out something--I like to post here cos if'n I was to post on another 'unnamed' forum, I'd be talking to myself. Sparrabeth has some 'spicy meatball' Brethern--interesting folks with a lot to say. Unnamed does too...I just dig the literary references here--everything old is new again.
And! I have pirate garb yes I do--I have pirate garb, how bout you? er, sorry worked too many pep rallies. And a sword and I always carry my compass since the 70's.
Miz Ditte3--I got a cool boost from Miz Savvy--she created and did all the work--I just get to look at beautiful gentle Sam from Benny & Joon. You're right--it's so very way cool!! Thanks Savvy! Great font too!!
I feel like we haven't gushed in a while. Lovethemtigers, where have the swoon-fest pics gone???? (usually when I post pics they don't work, but I'll give it a shot...)
Look at those eyes!!! 🙂
the look that started it all...
This look loudly declares that he can have whatever he wants from this lady, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. 🙂
Why are these two ALWAYS saying goodbye?!
we're all in heaven with you... hehe
With all great romance, a significant amount of anguish...
the perfect comeback...
oh sigh...

I rather like this one. That's a very determined look Liz has on her face like "don't look at Jack, think unsexy thoughts."

Aw, their quiet moment. If Liz had just kept her mouth shut, they could have enjoyed a moment's peace just looking out at sea together.

Wow. I know we say they get really close right after they kiss, but this is really really close too!
Interesting. Check these out:
ahhhh.... such dangerous proximity.... 🙂
hahaha love the caption: "don't look at jack, think unsexy thoughts".... brilliant.
they both have incredibly expressive eyes. it's interesting almost everyone in the film has brown eyes. random, but like in lord of the rings everyone seemed to have blue eyes.
about to take the plunge and propose... hahaha.
as if she didn't know exactly where it would point...
a bit caught off guard by that kiss....
"he came back! now maybe i wont die a virgin.."
talking with their eyes...
HOLY CRAP willo, that second vid was OUTRAGOUSLY AMAZING!!!!! I fell in love with sparrabeth ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!! and became THRICE as outraged by Will's sub-standard kissing abilities!!!!
everyone, watch it!!! it's the sparrabeth kiss revamped with the music from AWE... it's INTENSE BEYOND BELIEF!!!! 🙂 just goes to show, its ALL in the editing... slow mo and good music can make any kiss look good... and it's interesting to think about the fact that the Sparrabeth kiss originally has hardly any music or background noise at all, and is in real time. WOW.
so, i noticed i just used a lot of caps. i'm not a spaz, i swear.
Just saw some Sparrabeth vids. I'm in love with Jack and Liz again. By the way, a bit off-topic, I just saw Disney's Enchanted and I can't help but think that POTC was meant to end it with Sparrabeth. I think if Disney can help it, it would prefer Sparrabeth. In Enchanted, Giselle (equivalent of Liz) didn't end up with the prince (equivalent of Will) - she chose Robert (equivalent of Jack). She even saved Robert from death (like Liz getting Jack out of the DJ's Locker). The ending broke free from the conventional fairy tale which I think POTC was meant to be but somehow somebody chickened out and changed it. Not that Will and Liz had a perfect ending either. But I hope y'all know what I'm saying.
I definitely know what you are saying... I saw Enchanted and had exactly the same thoughts. The whole premise of the film is that a real life romance is better than a storybook romance... I really felt that Disney was trying to redeem itself from AWE or something. haha. I was shocked that they pulled it off--- because the whole film I was going, The Prince is a great guy and hasn't done anything to deserve being dumped, and similarly, that would leave Idina in the lurch. I didn't think Disney would do it. I was pleasantly surprised by the film altogether, and would highly recommend it. Especially if you liked Disney movies growing up--- this pokes fun at all the right cliches.
It just goes to show, they COULD have pulled off a Jack and Liz ending if they really had wanted to.
just Jack being Jack. thinking he's going to get lucky. Of course, if it had been any normal girl, he would have.
enchanted is great, i really recommend it. sure, there's plenty of disney cheese, but the movie made me very happy.
anyone know where you can get screencaps for AWE? as long as we're posting swooney pics. I never can seem to find good ones for AWE.

here's a really beautiful video. it's sort of sparrabeth, sort of just angst. really simple but haunting--- the clips all seem dark and sort of hazy. anyways, i love it. check it out.
And Lovethemtigers, I HOPE you got this clip to open:

Kate, you were right. It's a lovely, haunting video. Who sings that song? I love it on its own, too. It kind of harkens back to the big romantic ballads of the 80s...only with the significantly superior 00s sound.
Did you notice one of the comments on the bottom? I found it interesting. It seems to be from a willabether that is at least sparrabeth friendly, but she (I assume all are shes) says that she feels that Elizabeth starts to fear reality (Will's love) and the intensity of her feelings, so she goes to what she knows, which is pirates and her childhood fantasies and that's why she is drawn to Jack.
I think it's a little backward since I don't think Liz is afraid of her relationship with Will at all since she is the one who always wants to initiate things and get things a little steamier. But it was a really interesting thought. Takes all kinds to make POTC fans I guess.
