For Sparrabethers only, I'm having a thought. (STOP THE PRESSES) Be nice to me, guys. (FINE) Okay, I think I know how the movie ends, and I think it ties to the "keep telling yourself" line and the snippet of Jack slapping around his b*tches, I mean, whore-fans.
Okay, we've all seen Gone With the Wind? We know Rhett leaves her at the end? See it if you haven't because it's wonderful, but I'm wondering if it's the same premise. We've all wondered where Will is when Liz tells Jack it never would have worked between them, and we've also pondered if it's them telling each other goodbye. My thought is that this is near the end and Will is already on the Dutchman and things are as normal as they could be minus Jack without his ship. Anyway, Liz will probably go back to captaining her own ship and tell Jack goodbye and go on her way. He'll slap his whores and go back out to get the Pearl.
Why does this make me happy?
Because! It's Gone With the Wind! Everyone knows that Scarlett gets Rhett back even though they parted and if you accept Alexandra Ripley's "Scarlett" as canon, she does indeed get him back. Same is true here...if I'm right.
Non Sparrabethers are discouraged from arguing because I have no proof, no knowledge of the film or anything like that. It's just a thought I had.
that definately the way i see elizabeth going to be honest 🙂
COTBP started with liz.
She was the one singing the pirate song.
SHE was the one who taught it to jack, for heavens sakes!!! 😄
She will be the one with the ship of her own by the end of the film...
hey, i wonder if jack with hitch a ride with her to find his own ship??? 😉 lmao!
here's a new sparrabeth video tmaria and i made today...well, she does all the work, i just give her the ideas...but here it is and it's absolutely beautiful...be sure to visit her page and see all her videos of j/e that's been done....

I agree with your comparison to Rhett Buttler and Scarlett. It's true that the characters are similar in nature to Jack and Elizabeth, though Scarlett is arguably not quite as sympathetic of a character as Elizabeth, depending upon your point of view of her actions.
And I agree that they will in fact be united again, even though they will have to part company during the last part of the film.
My theory actually runs similar to yours! Nice work Willow 🙂
Oh, Mina you'll love it! GWTW is actually around 3 hours, not 4, so I think it will hold your attention. It's during the Civil War and Reconstruction. Have you at least heard some stuff about it? On a side note, I highly recommend reading the book because the book has so much more detail. It talks about how Rhett's grandpa was actually a pirate and one of the things Scarlett likes about being married to him is that in bed he'll tell her all these stories that his grandpa pirate had. Just a fun little aside. I like to pretend Jack had a kid and that kid had Rhett, who is very much of the pirate spirit.
