Shot of the B-Wing's end, showing the actual lights ILM used to achieve a glow effect of the propulsion systems the ships have.
A similar glow effect was created for lightsabers in the original version of A New Hope, only they used cheap sticks wrapped with reflector tape to glow, and plastic overlays were put over the film so an artist could literally paint/airbrush in the color of the lightsabers. Other expensive complicated equipment was used to make the shots also. In The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, the lightsabers were simply sticks again, and the overlays with airbrushing was used once again. I don't believe reflector tape was used in the last two films. I believe all the lightsaber effects in the newer films are CG, for sure in Episode II and II, but not sure about Episode I.
ALL of them? Are you sure? I checked out all of pics of all of the back pages of this thread and I don't remember them, I even saved them all on my computer. (Took a while.) Several images were not present, I think they were on a photobucket account that was emptied before I got to the images. That could explain the re-posted images you claim.
Anyways, I will post some more that I believe are rare. We will have to see what happens.
