That's a fair point, the help of Kasdan and Kershner was far better than that of Marquand and whoever wrote ROTJ.

And I know that it was those two guys who refined the story and directed the film, respectively.

It just makes me feel better to know that Lucas was involved in everything, so that whilst he may not have had all of the best ideas to put on screen, when the good ones were brought to him he made the choices to use them.

So Empire, (being the best SW film) is not soley due to his efforts, it is hardly "good because Lucas wasn't inolved" as I've heard some people claim.

Vintage, you rule dude.

Oh no... L:ucas is the mastermind. But sometimes, especially since the PT, I have doubts about his judgment calls. I think Brackett, Kasdan and Kershner (and also producer Gary Kurtz) made his ideas work. And apparantely they picked the best bits and left out more cheese than Lucas usually does.

And Kasdan wrote ROTJ too... so Leigh Brackett is due quite a bit of credit for ESB's first draft. And Kershner of course had probably a lot of leverage. He was Lucas's teacher in film school, older and more experienced. Marquand was probably more meek for Lucas, guess the Flanelled One disliked the lesser control during ESB.
