Eh. I'm sick of hearing this lame excuse as to why Kit sucks. Watch the movie again: Not only was he moving the FASTEST of ALL the characters in that scene, but he also performed a seemingly impossible spin that caused him to move almost a meter to the left. When he was killed (whether or not he WAS killed is still in question), he had his arms in the air, and had JUST completed his spin. He was in NO position to defend himself.

In fact, because he is so special a character, they made it so that you have to BUY him as part of the exclusive Xbox Live expansion pack for the Xbox version of the game. Kit Fisto is better than Obi-Wan in the Cestus Deception (Obi even states it himself), giving us reason to believe Kit > Obi prior to ROTS (where people believe Obi surpassed Kit).
