well, i talked to a cop who had to go to the protest site. he said that they were actually sitting in the street, blocking traffic. also, that a large number of protesters were illegal aliens. they have no citizenship, but they want 8 bucks plus and hour and benefits.

And they deserve that, illegal aliens deserve exactly the same as normal people working in any country. That would both stop illegal immigration because they won't be cheap and will make sure that they aren't treated like shit. Double benefit for everybody involved, those that want to stop it and those that want to give them more rights... Perfect solution, except for of course the people that want cheap working people but they suck anyways...

The people blocking the street, yeah that sucks for a lot of people, but what would they rather want? People shitting in the streets and then refusing to clean it up? People destroying things or just doing something illegal, this kind of protest never really made me angry, at most they are annoying at best they are very effective.

so somene who sneaks into this country illegally is entitled to the same pay and benefits that i am? even though i pay my taxes and they dont? are you truly saying this?

Janitor's do not deserve health benefits. I'm sorry. They're too easily replaceable to spend all that money on.

Kudos to janitors standing up, wanting to be appreciated for a change, but if it's illegal immigrants doing all the striking, they need to appreciate the fact the INS hasn't paid them a visit, and work withwhat they've got.

Yes.

Look at it from your side if they get the same pay they won't be hired as easily anymore because they won't be cheap anymore, meaning that the company's have no reason at all to hire them unless they actually deserve the job, and if they deserve the job they can usually become legal citizens anyways.

so even though i pay taxes off my hard earned money, and they dont, they still get the same benefits and pay? thats luidicrous.

I'm mixed on the issue too, but I definitely see the logic. If they're making the same money and benefits, why keep them around? People hire illegals because they pay them less and they're cheaper to keep around. If they're paid the same as a normal citizen, then there's no incentive to hire them. Of course, I don't really see a way to enforce this law since as soon as an illegal brings a complaint forth about an employer we can just throw them out of the country. Or rather, should throw them out.

i know it is a hassle to get citizenship, but they need to be citizens to get those things.
