Lets talk about Satan CLAWS then........
And when the Lord Jesus was tempted of Santa (correction: Satan) in the wilderness.... (Matt 4:10) ...And up pops Satan (Correction: Santa) Claus, with white hair and beard and a red suit - a FAKE saviour. ...So since the LORD comes from the North, then of course the Santa-god would do the same. The Bible says of Santa (Correction: Satan) ...(Isa 14:13) So Satan's (Correction: Santa's) workshop is "said to be" in the NORTH! ....and not be ashamed if you are teaching your children to be ready to meet Santa (Satan). They'll grow up and DIE, and BURN in the lake of FIRE FOREVER 😕

Already way ahead of you.
Why are the sins deadly??? It's not like you can throw it at someone and kill them...
I reckon it has something to do with keeping the unhappy masses in place. After all, if you have the poor being envious of the rich (nobility and clergy/priesthood), wanting their riches or whores or rich food and blankets, well, that could get deadly for the rich, since there has always been more poor then rich.
Best make the poor fearful of wanting what others have, lest that wanting lead them to take it by force (with wrath) - so no envy, greed or lust.
Of course you don't want them getting lazy and thinking "well, I'll never have what the rich have, so why bother working the fields and giving it all to the nobles?" - so no being slothful.
And you don't want them getting proud with their lot in life, because that gives people delusions of grandeur - so pride is a threat to ones immortal soul.
I've been told I'm to cynical, but I don't think a person can ever be to cynical.

depends on the person.
Meh, I'm talking a potential socio-political origin for the seven deadly sins, and it would be a effective way of insuring social stability (read preventing social reform.)
After all, if you believe wanting money (greed) or something someone else has (envy) will lead your soul to hell it is unlikely you'll one day take up your pitchfork and flaming torch and storm the local granary/lords castle with the rest of the starving peasantry/plebeians.
1) Shouldn't Hypocrisy be the 8th ?
2) Shouldn't Hatred be up there too ?
3)Lust is natural, and not intentional. It doesn't belong there ❌
4)GREED is a Sin that most Republicans are very guilty of. You go RIGHT WING ! 😉
5)Pride is supposedly our greatest Sin, but WRATH and ENVY are GOD's greatest sins.
I think we are all guilty of these sins at some point or another -- the main focus after commiting such sin should be, can or do we believe in God's ability to forgive these sins, and do we believe in God's ability to overcome them. As I grow more in my faith, I have much confidence in God's ability to overcome all sin. For as Christ so truthfully stated, greater is he that is of me - then he that is of the world.

And isn't hypocrisy really just doing these things when you shouldn't?

Ah, but the definition of lust is different than natural physical attraction. Perverse sexual thoughts are sinful while being able to recognize physical beauty is not. There is a difference to be sure.
Recognizing beauty is not lust.
Lust is intense sexual attraction, not merely visual or physical.
Lust is not one's choice. If people had a choice in what thier sexual desires were, then everyone would choose what was most convienent for them, and there would be no struggle.

No..Hypocrisy is telling someone else not to do those things, when you do them yourself.
