Yes indeed, when Thor wasn't being a Jobbing Tool he was able to use his "Hammer Style" to absorb Magneto's powers.

Thor eats nukes for breakfast. He also can simply sap magnetism from Magneto.

Not to mention the fact that Thor has half a million other options against Magneto.

As long as Thor doesn't decide "Hey, why not try to hit him with my hammer....again and again and again," he'll win the majority.

Well when he puts a hole in a Celestial, chases Galactus away, defeats Ego or his shields cope with a galaxy destroying bomb he may stand a chance ... until then, Thor stomps him 9.85/10

Magneto has fared well against Thor in the past, and that's when Thor had a lot of other powerful heroes backing him up.

Magneto versus Thor in a solo match would give victory to Magneto.
