X (the movie)

Tokyo is the city where the final battle between the Dragon of Earth and the Dragon of Heaven will take place in the Japanese anime film X, directed by Rintaro (a.k.a. Tarô Rin; Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion) and written by the all-woman writing team Clamp. The Dragon of Earth wants to wipe out humankind because of the damage people have inflicted on the Earth, while the Dragon of Heaven is fighting to protect civilization. At the center of all this is Kamui, the chosen one, who must pick a dragon to fight for.

Not sure why they did this…but the movie came out before the show was completed or even started. It’s kind of dumb actually. The movie isn’t bad but the show is so much better that the movie is redundant and 100% worthless.

3/5 – Movie’s okay but you’re better off watching the show

Naruto

Deep within the Hidden Leaf Village, sharp and cunning Ninja carry an ultimate power while Naruto Uzumaki carries inside the ultimate secret. Twelve years ago, the fourth Hokage sacrificed himself and saved the village by sealing the Nine-tailed Fox Spirit an orphaned baby boy. Now, this plucky prankster must do what it takes achieve this life-long goal and become the next Hokage!

WARNING!!!! Do not watch this in English Dub. It’s awful. It makes the show far worse than you can imagine possible. If I have to hear him say, “Believe it” one more time I’ll hang somebody. Cartoon Network tried to make it friendlier for children and that is how it failed.

At first you might think that this show is for kids…that would be a false assumption but it’s not your fault. You’ve been lead to believe that by all kinds of people and partly by the media.

For those of you who follow the show I’m certain you are aware that Shippuuden is out now and most of you are probably watching it one way or another. It’s because Shippuuden has started that I’m reviewing Naruto now.

You’ll find that people follow this show intensely. That’s because it’s good.
It’s very well done. The plot is thought out the characters are interesting and the show is relevant for the most part. However there are some episodes especially toward the end that are blatantly put in to buy the show some more time to prepare for the next step.
It’s because of that that I say…

4/5 – Too many fillers to the end. Other than that a very good show.

They can't kiddie shippuden. It's too violent and the whole Kohonomaru lesbian scene kinda destroys any chance they have. Lest editing the episode into a clip show...

GILGAMESH
ANGEL SANCTUARY
{THE OTHER ANIME BY ANGEL SANCTUARY CREATOR CIRCLING AROUND A VIZARD BOY FORGOT THE NAME}
NOIR
BLEACH
YU YU HAKUSHO
TENJHO TENGE
FUSHIGI YUGI
WOLF'S RAIN

AMON SAGA
RIGVEDA
LEGEND OF ARSALAN

three by three eyes

Kiba - Heard of and nearly started it a month ago but finished Elfen Lied instead.
Busou Renkin (arm's alchemy)
Gilgamesh
Angel Sanctuary
Miene Leibe? Is that what you're thinking of?
Noir
Bleach - We'll have to wait on this one. I've seen most of the episodes thus far but I have to wait till the end of the show to review it. Also it doesn't divide into two like Naruto and Naruot Shippuuden.
Yu-yu hakusho - I've seen most of the first season so it shouldn't be too hard.
Tenjho Tenge - Never heard of it. 🙂
Fushigi Yugi
Wolf's Rain - Same people that did Witch Hunter Robin right?
Amon Saga
Rigveda - Never heard of it 🙂
Legend of Arsalan
3x3 eyes - I've seen something in the area of the first three episodes. So I'm already starting. 🙂

Thank you for all your requests. I'm working on them as we speak.
Feel free to post your own reviews or to go ahead and smack me around for mine. I'm not an authority on anime in any sense of the word. I'm just a goofball with too much time on his hands. 😛

I especially like receiving requests for animes I've never heard of.

You say that but I don't put anything past them. I bet they'll find a way to screw it up for the kids here in the states. They'll probably just clip anything that has to do with lesbians.

America ruins everything. 😛

Ninja Scroll

A Journeyman ninja by name of Jubei stumbles upon a plague, an evil clan of demons, a national crisis, and a beautiful ninja girl.

One of the big four. When I first starting to watch anime the four movies that everyone said I must watch were Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke, and Ninja Scroll.
Out of the four I liked this one least of all.

I’m aware that it’s a legend of sorts and a mainstay in anime but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

Original concept, great villains and a decent plot. Good by all standards and yet it’s still not my cup of tea.

4 out of 5 I don’t think it deserves a 5 but that’s just me.

Memories

The masters of anime join forces to create this stunning animated film featuring three separate stories: Magnetic Rose, Stink Bomb and Cannon Fodder. In Magnetic Rose, two space travellers are drawn into an asteroid world created by one woman's memories. In Stink Bomb, a young lab assistant accidentally transforms himself into a human biological weapon set on a direct course to Tokyo. Cannon Fodder depicts a day in the life of a city whose entire purpose is the firing of cannons at the enemy.

I’ll review each one separately then together as one whole project.

Magnetic Rose – Talk about starting on a good foot. This was frightening, interesting and not too short. The dramatic appeal and not too mention shocking appeal of this piece is irresistible.
4/5

Stink Bomb – Second in the series is a near complete change in attitude with a dark comedy that will have you laughing despite the dire conditions. A nice surprise and well thought up.
4/5

Cannon Fodder – Finishing up on the strangest of the trinity. They probably could have passed this without lines. It doesn’t really add anything to the series but it will definitely leave you unsettled.
3/5

All in all I would give this nearly flawless blend a 5/5.

Monster

Brilliant doctor Kenzo Tenma risks his reputation and promising career to save the life of a critically wounded young boy instead of a politician’s. Nine years later, the child has grown into a serial killer...Can Kenzo stop him? Or will he make another fatal decision?

Not a very long premise but I don’t want to reveal too much or I’d ruin the show.
Hands down the best anime I’ve seen all year.
Gripping, dark and intelligent; this anime rivals Outlaw Star for being my personal favorite of all time. Once I watched the first episode of this show I was hooked. I wasn’t able to stop watching it until I had seen every episode.

5/5 – and I can’t stress how good this show is. Pure genius

bump

You gave Champloo a 3/5 and gave Ninja scroll a 4/5? I would give Champloo a 5/5, to me it does the animation much better than just about every series out there, and the fight choreography is the best around.

The story also gets full marks from me, for being unique (it's discontinuity resembles real life) and having the rare quality of a true adventure. An anime you should watch is desert punk, it's pure entertainement, not to mention hilarious.

You do have a point there.

Perhaps I need to reevaluate my rating system.
A little more details perhaps.

DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY TIPS?

No, Champloo has piss-poor animation in my opinion.

Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children

Two years after the events in "Final Fantasy VII", a disease called 'Seikon-Shoukougun', or 'Geostigma', is spreading through the planet. This disease is believed to have been caused by the body fighting off foreign material that invaded the body two years earlier, at the end of "Final Fantasy VII". Guilt-ridden and haunted by his past, ex-SOLDIER Cloud Strife has decided to live a secluded, solitary life away from his friends while maintaining "Strife's Delivery Service", whose headquarters is located in Tifa Lockheart's bar, the Seventh Heaven. Tifa's bar serves as an orphanage for children stricken with Geostigma. Here, Tifa keeps an eye on Barret's six-year-old daughter, Marlene, while Barret searches the planet for an alternative energy source to the Planet's energy, Mako. One day, Cloud receives a phone call from the former Shinra, Inc. president, Rufus, asking him for protection from a mysterious man named Kadaj. Kadaj, in the meantime, along with his brothers Loz and Yazoo, are searching for their "mother", and seem to believe that Cloud knows where to find her. Meanwhile, Vincent Valentine has been wandering the planet gathering information on Kadaj's scheme, and Cloud and his friends must come together again to fight these new enemies.

You're kidding me. You mean I haven't reviewed this yet? Well holy crap! Where have I been?

Okay, let's say that you have played the game - Congratulations! You've got exactly what you were wishing for and then some. It's a spectacular representation of the characters you love including Sid's ridiculous chauvinism. And don't worry...he's in this. You know who, but then again odds are that you've already seen it by now so you know who.

Okay, let's say that you HAVEN'T played the game - So what? It's still amazing! Watching this makes you a fan almost immediately. I've never had a person watch it who didn't say, "Wow! That was awesome!"
Why? Because the music is spectacular! The CGI unlike anything you've ever seen! The characters are...well...they are the same characters that made RPG's truly popular. And the villains are...well...you should really see for yourself.

5/5 - I know, I know. I said, "Video game movies suck." I'm aware of that but you really can't hold this against me, because...well...it's really good okay! Leave me alone.

5 outta 5? LOL

dude. you gave this and naruto a four. naruto is good but, ninja scroll is ninja at it's finest. i suggest you put an asterisk on naruto cause it's no ninja scroll.
