1) I don't care if the abuse of MAXIMUM like in Islam, or MINIMUM like in Christianity. The abuse is STILL THERE...
2) I never said that an end to Christianity is the answer. I beleive people need to speak up though....as loud and as often as they can. Otherwise, good ol' treeditional values will supercede all other aspects of our nation, and this culture war will never end
3) You seem to have very little knowledge of what Christianity has been responsible for throughout the ages.....either that, or you are simply ignoring it. I argue this all the time, and I refuse to repeat the tons of details that I do in every other thread.
4) Christianity has NOT only contributed to homophobia, but to other types as well. In the past, during the struggles of African Americans, Christianity was divided among stances.
Slavery of Blacks was JUSTIFIED by Christianity long ago. You know why ? Cuz Darkness was LITERALLY looked at as evil, and since Black people have VERY DARK SKIN, the conclusion was that these were VERY SINFUL PEOPLE (creatures actually, as white Christians failed to recognize them as even being human)
It was against the Law for Blacks and Whites to get married, even after the Emancipation. Is Christianity entirely responsible for the Racism? No....ofcourse not. But it played its roll and made a large contribution to this type of discrimination.
It was only until later, when Liberal Reformative Christians decided that this was unjust to treat people like this, that things have changed.
Even today, there are Christians who defend Gay Rights and defend the rights and diversity of other people. I RECOGNIZE and ADMIRE THIS...but unfortunately, they are over shadowed by the Conservative Christian Right Wing, the Christians with the $$$$$$
Christianity has been a business, and is STILL a business, and that's where the evil spawns.
