hmm, imo things fall out this way. i'll rank the teams first, then the debaters.as far as on-paper team.
1. BW/DC -- 2 of their characters could be argued as above-cap. in terms of sheer power, this tourney is their's to lose imo.
2. BB/DG -- excellent team. tremendous versatility. despero near cap-limit and the most powerful TP in the tourney. it will be interesting to watch the copying and meshing they come up with and if they can overcome fatal flaws in the characters they have chosen. 😉
3. DL/LL -- mangog is cap limit and well above herald. great mix of magic, cosmic and TP.
4. T/KK -- PR/REW -- ROL/N -- too close to call these teams imo. good versatility but with the exception of he-man, no one who presses cap limits.
5. S/MM -- DIGI/SCOOB -- sorry boys -- no one who presses cap limits and imo the 3 weakest characters in the tourney are spread among these teams (i'll not say who . . .)
now, the debaters involved:
1. DIGI/SCOOB -- loads of experience and as the winner of the most tournaments in kmc, you really can't count scoob's team out -- EVER. imo, this will be perhaps the truest test for him and digi though because they have a couple large weaknesses to overcome in their team, imo.
2. DG/BB -- i've been in recent debates/discussions with DG and past ones with BB. i KNOW these gents know their stuff and can debate very well. they will be a handful in this tounrament and from the start were my darkhorse to win the whole thing. don't make me look bad ya bastiches!! 😛
3. BW/DC -- solid vets. maybe could be 2, but i don't see BW debate often in threads anymore so how 'honed' his skills are reamins to be seen. dc is very solid and coupled with the strongest team in the tourney, i stand by my initial supposition -- this is their tournament to lose. no pressure, gents. 😄
4. PR/REW -- DL/LL -- again, solid. the thing that makes these teams dangerous imo, is that they seemed to draft characters they each know VERY well. a 'lesser' character can defeat a more powerful one if the debater is good enough. one of the underrated parts of debating in KNOWING the characters. while i rated these guys a little lower, i would NOT be surprised by an upset from either of these teams. 🙂
5. S/MM -- ROL/NIN -- T/KK -- apologies to these guys. i KNOW KK is solid and logical. i KNOW ROL is solid and logical and i KNOW SOUL is solid and logical (a quite underrated debater around here, imo) but your partners are unknowns to me. i could have simply NOT ranked these 3 teams, but i know each has at least ONE very solid debater, so i didn't want to discount them. if partners can hold up their ends, each of these teams could also prove dangerous opponents.
where each teams falls in terms of odds, depends on how much worth you place on paper vs debaters -- and what you think of my opinion on teams AND debaters. 😄
my finals prediction based on team AND debaters:
DG/BB v BW/DC with BW/DC winning. 🙂
that of course is strictly opinion and not meant as a slight to anyone. 🙂
