If that was true she'd just permanently take Martian Manhunter's abilities ... or Superman's.

Maybe their has to be a certain volume of a type of animal living in the ecosystem for "the red" to register the species.

I recall in a different Vixen thread, someone said the morphogenetic field, the Red, basically includes any species that evolved from the planet i.e. Krypto would be part of Kryton's "Red."

Interesting post. Could Vixen mimic the abilities of Superman or Manhunter? IMHO, I really don't see a reason why she couldn't. Mimiking the abilities of man or in this case alien men shouldn't be that far from her reach.

IMHO, the only power she shouldn't be able to mimic should be abilities gained through outside influnce (i.e. Spider-Man, Firestorm, Flash and memebers of the FF).

Anyway that's a question for another time

Vixen combines the strength of a elephant (about 12 tons), the shock of an electric eel, the speed of a cheetah, the regenerative abilities of a earthworm, shape shifting and the totem's ability to creat force field.

This should be an intresting fight. Spider-Man is almost fighting a female version of Venom and Electro combined

So she takes the abilities as is? ... or are they proportional?

Cos an elephant can only proportionally lift around a fifth of it's own weight (generally, the bigger the animal, the lower the proportional strength)
