Against the doombots they didn't break either, I checked. The claws cut them like butter.

Ok, but still not convinced they would cut through Colossus' skin. If they were that strong, why didn't he use them against Namor? I mean sure, the whole dramatic "Beat him to death in an inferno" thing must've played a part, but I bet the writer's wouldn't have missed out on another wolverine-like moment if they would've been able to pierce his skin.

I also have the entire series and I don't really recall seeing them turn to metal....maybe when he was fighting the doombots before the Namor fight? I really can't recall them in any other form than bone. And seeing as how they were shown as bone in many times although since the very beginning of the series till he dies he has half of colossus' powers, I don't understand why sometimes they would be bone, and other times metal...doesn't sound right....I've seen them as bone when he was in steel form, so you can't say "they're metal when he's in steel form, and bone when he's normal", so........why would they be metal sometimes and bone other times?

The way I see it is that it was just something....of a graphical nature + perhaps the writer just didn't see it as something of great importance.

Everytime Mimic turned metal, so did his claws.... whenever he wasn't in his Colossus form, they were bone claws

I dont think they can break through Colossus's skin.

Why not?

Just look at what he did to Hyperion. And I think Colossus isn't as tough as Hyperion. He could pull of something I'm sure of it.

Yes, and he almost died from it, while Hyperion stood up and started laughing...

I'm at work now but if you want when I get home I will provide you with scans of him in metal form with bone claws, since I am 100% sure that happened on several occassions

because they are only 50% of Petes strength and the denser wolverine bones dont really add enough to make the 50% able to cut through. If he could use Northstar's speed he could probbly do it. just my opinion of course

Do you think someone half your size could stab you with a sharpened leg bone?

Same thing.

Dramatic scene, nothing more.

My general point being that:

1. I personally imagine Wolverine trying to hit Colossus with the bone claws and the claws breaking.

2. With more force behind it (half of colossus' strength) that would not mean more potential of them piercing colossus, but rather a mili second less that it would take for them to break.

I see it like this.

Take twig and try to poke a tree trunk. Poke as hard as it takes until the twig breaks. Now do the same with a new twig, only from the get-go, hit REALLY hard. You'll notice, hitting harder doesn't mean the twig pierces the trunk...it just breaks faster.

That's the way I see things...

That's a really, really, bad anaology.

Bones are far stronger than skin, twigs are not far stronger than tree trunks

😐

bones however are not far stronger than steel, or organic steel 😉

I was being kind making it seem like the bones would be somewhere in the vicinity of steel when comparing the twig to the tree trunk 😉

Well just going mach 2 as Aurora did to X-23 here fingertips can peirce steel as stated. With Mimic's strength and speed yeah he definetly can do it. I'm pretty sure he could even without the speed.

You don't seem to be getting this.

Colossus' bones turn to steel along with the rest of him ... it's all in proportion.

Same with Mimic.

Mimic's claws are slightly over half the strength of Colossus' bones while in metallic form.

Razor sharp bones >>> skin

Razor sharp, organic steel, bones >>> organic steel skin

A noodle is about half the strength of my skin. Now, with half my strength, try to pierce my skin with that noodle 👆

Um... no.

Noodles are incredibly weak, brittle objects (unless cooked)

Wood is around half the strength of bone... go try and stab yourself with some wood.

Has Mimic ever been shown to use his super speed when in his metal form? I thought he had to change back to use his super speed.

Yeah... but not often.
