Las Vegas Blunders

Tis the Season to get off the Streets and stop sleeping near POOP damnit!

In August, the City Council banned sleeping within 500 feet of feces not deposited in an appropriate sanitary facility.

Taking away our freedoms everyday! If I want to sleep in poop that should be my right!

With mixed success in the courts and on the streets, Las Vegas has tried sweeping away their encampments, closing a park where they hang out, making it a crime to feed them, even passing a ban on sleeping within 500 feet of feces.

Mayor Oscar Goodman has been leading the charge in his effort to clean up and revitalize the city's aging downtown, north of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip.

god forbid they offer homeless shelters. naaa just exterminate them

Cheaper faster and more efficient besides it creates job for the homeless too meaning some actually have a chance to survive

In their defense, Las Vegas does have homeless shelters, but like most cities, they are inadequate in respect to the homeless population. As far as outlawing the poop-sleeping, it is for the publics own good; Hepatitis and other diseases can be contracted from feces.

Um actually in the article it states that there are 400 beds available by the city and many nights they aren't all filled.

I just thought it was funny that the city banned sleeping within 500 feet of poop unless in an appropriate waste depot.

I was in NYC over the weekend and I honest to god saw a homeless guy with a sign that said "need money for drugs, booze and hookers..hey at least im honest"

It was funny stuff.

I been to Vegas many times and seen the homeless issue happening. Basically they want to avoid the over population of homeless people in the strip. They just want to avoid the homeless issues and not end up looking like Downtown Los Angeles.

It'll be funny when/if the police try to enforce the law... Like some homeless guy is going to actually pay a fine for sleeping too close to a turd.

I wonder if infants are exempt?

There is always the option of Community service if they don't pay the fine.
