I’m not sure what the draw was, but something compelled women of all ages to see TITANIC over and over again. "

Admitedly that's a blog, but all box office websites just report that it was #1, not why it was number one.
I had to start searching blogs and stuff, but I found that most people remember Titanic as I did: great one time, then watched by chicks.

that's definately the reason. I have seen almost every flm on the top 25 highest grossing list, but I never bothered to watch "Titanic". i even heard that it was horrible.
