I don't really see the problem... Although perhaps Euthanasia would be more merciful, but that hasn't happened. Anyways her life sucks, she won't notice and this makes it easier and better for everybody and is therefor likely the best option.

The degree of static encephalopathy she presented, to the point where she had inadequate motor control to even swallow food, meant that regardless of the course of action taken she wouldn't have had a very high quality of life. The benefits of the hysterectomy and mastectomy do outweigh the negatives - which are basically nonexistent considering things such as body image and reproductive capacity are essentially irrelevant to the girl - and justify the course of action to an extent, but the "treatment" does still seem a bit radical. But I don't see any real problem with it.
Oh, who would've thought. It's the smart folks I agree with again.
as a child she would experience less scrutiny from...well...assholes. people tend to at least have the decency to not stare at retarded children.
but yeah, its so frikin weird...and really amounts to nothing.
to people are really that concerned about 'gods plan'
she shouldnt be hooked up to life support should she?

How do you figure? Liberal and conservative view points are in this case about morality. Morality is ALWAYS subjective.
So, (for the first time) I am inclined to agree with Feceman.
As far as article goes -
It is a bit strange but I don't see a real problem with it. She is severely disabled, and as said she can never voluntarily reproduce, or furthermore, she can never voluntarily do anything.
This will make it easier on her and her parents.

A hard one this. Its ok for the parents, and very selfish. But maybe if she would be allowed to grow some sort of cure might come about in the future.
May sound a bit crass but such a sick personw wouldn´t survive in a normal world.
The cure is banned.
Stem cell research is seriously behind, and would cure not only this but many more types of brain disorders.
