You never grasped what Rob was trying to do with this film. He was illustrating the life of a psychopath:----A psychopath is defined as a person having no concerns for the feelings of others and a complete disregard for any sense of social obligation
He has a mental disorder. So your explaination is simply genetics. The film was geared toward a realistic portrayal and not some supernatural villan. Sorry if that is not what you wanted with this remake, but it is what rob wanted.
To the others who did not like lauries character. Is character depth that important for an unsuspecting victim of this psychopath? She is just a young girl who is scared to death that someone is trying to kill her. If you think she was annoying, then you prob find teenage girls annoying i think she represented the age fairly well and seemed terrified. Unlike the original, laurie was not the focus of this movie.
In an earlier post I said Rob nailed it. By "nailed it" I mean the movie came out great for what he wanted to do, not meaning he reinvented the franchise. That was never his intent.
That's what I had to try and explain to dumbasses coming out of the movie.

You mean how Zombie took a suspense classic and turned it into nothing but a violent, sex explotitive piece of trash. Then yeah Zombie succeeded.
True. I saw this last night after weeks of dreading seeing one of my favorite Horror movies totally desecrated. It's simple, this "remake"
( or whatever it was) had NOTHING to offer. Lots of t*ts and blood do not make for totally ruining a true classic. What a piece of sh*t, really.
Spoiler:
Michael kidnaps Laurie, and takes her back to his home. At the Myers home, Michael approaches Laurie and tries to show her that she is his younger sister. Unable to understand, Laurie grabs Michael's knife and stabs him before escaping the house; Michael chases her, but is repeatedly shot by Dr. Loomis. Loomis and Laurie are just about to leave when Michael grabs Laurie and heads back to the house. Loomis intervenes, but Michael kills him by crushing his skull. Laurie takes Loomis' gun and runs upstairs; she is chased by Michael, who, after cornering her on a balcony, charges her head-on and knocks both of them over the railing. Laurie finds herself on top of a bleeding Michael. Aiming Loomis' gun at his face, she repeatedly pulls the trigger until the gun finally goes off just as Michael's hand grips Laurie's wrist. Michael dies, and Laurie begins screaming hysterically.
You're not missing anything.
When Loomis talks Michael out of killing Laurie, Michael drops his knife, and actually shows signs that there might be a spark of humanity left inside of him. However, the sheriff and his men shoot the shit out of Michael to Dr. Loomis' horror. Michael dies, and Loomis mournfully kneels by his body as the camera pans upward from a downward angle. We then hear the early recorded audio sessions of Michael and Loomis when Michael was institutionalized, but was forgetful of his actions. Then it fades to black.
