Why are girls not respected on the internet?

It seems Girls on the internet are often put down by older males for having an opinion. Is that because many men express latent misogyny repressed by modern equality laws on the net?

You can be a bit rude sometimes yourself you know....

You have an ignorant view of the internet, more like.

Either that or you've just been in situations where you had a stupid or obviously wrong opinion and were mocked for it.

Can't say I've ever been put down for simply being a girl and I've been using the internet for about...10 years and going on message boards for most of that time.

if anything its generally assumed that a young girl is capable of some degree of maturity while its generally expected of young boys to be completely obnoxious.
i would say the sexist slant on the internet is more in favor of females in that respect, since younger boys tend to have to prove that they are not a typical adolescent idiot.

Well ok I can understand whats going on here, like you said you think you need to stick up for yourself, the problem is sometimes people are not picking on you because you are a girl, they are just disagreeing with you. Then you get mad and all hell breaks lose.

I think most people on this forum couldnt careless wether you are a girl, but some people on this forum can sometimes be quite rude.
