Smallville Vs Lois and Clark

I didn’t mind the Lois and Clark weekly shows. They were entertaining. However, I did feel it took an obnoxious swing on getting the two of them married. They dragged it out too long. And when they finally got married, it was a stupid plot! The characters were great, I felt superman was handsome. Lois was Lois; the actress did a great job. What I didn’t like is the father of superman was still alive – off the comic script of superman.

However, if it came down to purchasing the season DVD sets, I would prefer Smallville. I find that smallville stays close to the comic books but expands in some areas which I don't mind. Why, because the comics really didn't explain them. The comic left openings for them. Such as:

[*]Villians: Explains why the Villians got their enormous powers!
[*]Future Characters introduced: Smallville is introducing future characters, such as, Mr. White, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olson. This is okay to me as there is not much info on superboy before he becomes superman. We get a glimpse of him in the movies and comic books but not a lot of info when he is growing up. So linking the fact that he may have helped Mr. White as a teen may lead him to getting a job later is okay.

All in all, if I had to choose between 'Lois and Clark' and 'Smallville', I'd choose Smallville. And I have to admit that Smallville's Clark is a hunk! I also like the Lois in this series! She is funky and straight to the point - which Lois usually is. I also like the way they have matured Lex's personality in that it explains how he became so evil. I have to admit, I liked the Zod episode, but have ?s on it. Such as, how are they going to get him back into the 'Phantom Zone'. As in the superman movies, he breaks out of the 'Phantom Zone'.

P.S. I liked Superman Returns as well and the actor playing superman was great as well - but that is another story!!!!!

i'm gonna have to disagree with you there... i don't think smallville was very close to the comics at all...

i'd take lois and clark over smallville anyday, but thats just me...

Smallville is nowhere near the comics. I would also take Lois & Clark over Smallville at least for the first five seasons. I'm actually begining to like the newest though that may do with Green Arrow since he's the person I actually like. And with Bart returning also since he was the only other person I liked though I'll have to wait for the end of the season to see if I'd still take Lois and Clark over this season or not.

Smallville is better than Lois & Clark even if just for the cameos. They were talking about having a young bruce on there. That'd be cool. This Lex is waaaaaaaaay better than the L&C one.

Lois and Clark...easily. I love Smallville and am an avid watcher, but....L & C was just soooo good.

Both are an okay watch, they're probably too different in style to compare though.

Smallville is a pretty good show when it's actually focused on Clark's development into Superman. However, I will say Smallville Lana might be the most annoying character on television. Man, I really hope she dies soon.

Well, I've only recently started watching Smallville so perhaps my two cents are only worth $.05. I watched every episode of Lois and Clark but mostly because my girlfriend at the time liked it. I didn't hate it but I never liked it very much either. It was too soapy and the writers went crazy and married the couple, destroying any sexual tension between them. And, lets face it, that tension was pretty much the whole show.

When Smallville began, I immediately wrote it off as just another piece of fluff the WB was famous for. Charmed, Buffy, Angel. All terrible in my opinion. If the girls at my work liked it, it must by universally bad. Since Superman Returns, I have watched a few shows of Smallville. I liked the first show I watched (with Aurthur Currie / Aquaman) and sat through a few more. There have been some real moronic scripts - like the one where the 100-year-old high school chick is sapping people's life force to stay young or where Lionel and Clark switch bodies. Utter garbage.

It doesn't bother me that each incarnation of television Superman displays no continuity with each other or the franchise in general but I ease my frustrations by accepting that each series is an entity unto itself. It's own continuum.

Perhaps I'll be lucky enough to tune in when the series stats from the beginning again on Canada's Space Channel so I can get up to speed. It does me no good to catch a scatter show here and in hopes of understanding the show. Until I can watch from the beginning, Smallville will just be a (sometimes) interesting curiosity to waste an hour on the weekend.

You can't really compare two different Superman periods and say this one is better. For me if you into one and the other...it's practically the same. It's the character of Superman that attracks the fans.

I wouldnt know, I watched Lois and Clark when i was like 5-7 yrs old, hardly remember any of it, I am a huge fan of smallville though

Well, it wasn't Thursday, but I did watch the episode in question last night. I was introduced to Green Arrow and Aquaman in previous episodes so that left Flash and Cyborg. This show was pretty much a crap shoot.
Green Arrow: WTF?! He's about as entertaining as watching paint dry. He pretty cool, from a billionaire vigilate perspective, but arrows? Come on! We have a water king, a speedster, a cyborg, and the last son of krypton. He brings arrows to the team. Wow. If they had to go green, why not employ the Green Lantern? He's much cooler in every respect.
Flash: Or Impluse is you prefer. He's a punk. I kept wondering why his clothers weren't constantly disintegrating every time he went from 0 to 10,000 kph and back to 0 in the blink of an eye. At least he doesn't carry a bow and arrow.
Cyborg: Eh. Never liked this character, in any incarnation. But, he's got some super skills and I'm sure he wouldn't be stopped by an arrow.
Aquaman: I stated before that I'm OK with this version of Aquaman. In fact, I hated the old "son of a sea god" story. He's cool. I love swimming and he's got it down pat. Plus, he can swim faster than any arrow.
Clark: Grow up you silly nerd! Golly, I wonder what's behind this lead door? If Chloe is smart enough to figure out that lead can be employed to deceive Clark, don't you think Clark should be at least that smart? He does possess supersmarts, right? Good thing he recovers quickly and is superstrong, and superfast, and all that. He's a real dolt sometimes. But, he is impervious to arrows.
As for the forming of JLA? Not quite.
