I was just watching POTC 1, and right before Elizabeth hits the water after Norrington proposes to her, Jack says, "And then they made me their cheif." And I was like, "Oh, so that's how he understood the language of the cannibals of the second movie!"

Did anyone else notice that?

Yes he said that before diving in to the water to rescue Liz in COTBP. I thought that line was a bit surprising. Maybe it wasn't meant to be anything and then TnT used it to make the scene from the cannibals. Who knows?

I think that scene was a foreshadow to the 2nd movies cannibal island scene.

because during the 1st movie they had no intent in making a 2nd

Yes because he knew that Land is where he was safe he just headed towards the nearest Island....and he knew the Pelegostos would welcome him because they knew he was their cheif....and figured i'll just find a way out of it later!
