Superman can battle on the astral with the kryptonian disciplines of Torquasm. He's fought universal level threats with this technique. Telepathy also doesn't work well against Superman. He has natural defenses against it, plus his willpower is insane, and he's trained with Manhunter on techniques on how to resist it, as all the JLA have.
