Design your own standard infantry.

Basically, you are given the privilege of creating your very own standard grunt for you to control. The way it is done however is that you mix and mesh guns, armor person type from any existing science fiction and put them all into one unit ready to fight whatever battle you want.

Rules:
-You are allowed to add anything like extra genetic enhancements so long as you know that its compatible with the same species (i.e you can give space marines enhancement to a normal human but cannot be given to something like a covenant alien due to possible genetic incompatibilities)

- No freaking Lantern Rings! Those things are death in a cute little ornament!

-When combining parts and persons together, make sure that the parts you choose also were considered to be a part of the standard infantry from the originating sci-fi universe(you cannot give a star wars stormtroopers standard infantry terminator armor, since terminator armor is only reserved for the elite space marine and stormtroopers are merely considered to be standard infantry)

-You may use droids, robots, bug type creatures, aliens or humans if you wish so long as they were considered standard infantry in their respective sci-fi universes.

-Feel free to give your custom trooper specialized weapons(again, as long as they are classified as the standard infantry type weapon), such as Anti- tanks guns, heavy machine guns, etc etc.

-Feel free to use modern Earth humans as a template if you wish
Examples
So this is what a standard infantry soldier of your design should look like:
Take one Imperial Guardsmen(from 40k), arm the Guardsmen with a DC-15 blaster(star wars), also wielding a type-8 phaser pistol(star trek) and wearing GDI tiberian sun armor (C&C tiberium sun)

This is what it should NOT look like:
Take an Imperial Gaurdsmen (40k) armed with a Kasrkin Hellgun(this is bad since Hellguns were saved for elite imperial guard). Fitted with droideka shielding (this is bad too since droid parts are not compatible with humans, and droidekas are not classed as standard infantry) and placed into Dark Trooper armor(dark trooper were also elite)

So by now i hope i made the instructions clear enough. Have at it you!

sounds like a lot of work, think ill just pick an Alien drone crossed with an Shadow from Babylon 5

Hmmm, a tough one.

Well, I would defiantly want my grunts to be durable and flexible, so it/he has to have power armor (no robots for me).

Then I want a flexible, but mass producible weapons for my grunt.... so probably a type of rifle with cc back up weapons build in to the armor or easily accessible.

Then I would want them to be easily controlled and have a good feel of the combat environment, as well as the ability to quickly call in support. So they need a com-link (radio or anything else) of some kind and a visual system.

Of course an adequate training regiment is included and no," I'm going to waist a fourth of the day on praying," like the space marines.

Then by way of augmentations, the Halo muscle, reflex, and bone augmentation is acceptable. The reason I didn't want 40k augmentation is that most of that stuff requires a dedicated staff of tech priests to keep my soldiers from debilitating and deadly metabolic complications. So the one time investment to make them self-sufficiently superior seems like a good one to give them a great edge against most forces.

So I'm thinking terran marine armor protecting an easily produced human. Then after training to make the human proficient (and weed some out) the remaining soldiers are given augmentations and plopped in newer armor that can handle their augmentations. Then the true training commences. Vibro-blades in the gauntlets allow proficient cc prowess. A standard weapon of my grunts will be the terran space marine gauss gun with grenade attachment. The secondary weapon will be a plasma pistol, as its newfound (and particularly awesome) ability to disable vehicles. In place of stim packs, ammo bins will supply ammunition and power directly to the prime weapon. This will allow continuous fire without the need to get ripped apart by something nasty in cc. Of course the plasma pistol is going to be attached by grabby clips to the thigh. The helmet will be of standard design with just a few additions if they don’t exist. A total ammo count will appear in an easily read section of that very large readable display. If not already, a cross-hair will be semi-transparent and super imposed on the HUD.

That is what I want in my standard grunt. The only expensive thing is the augmentations, and that can easily pay for its self when the stuff hits the fan. Sure they have some pretty good armor (not the best, but far away from the standard or worst), but another good protector is being tough as nails, hard to hit, and extraordinarily fast. Armor is not everything and is not something to be relied upon too heavily.

As it is, their standard weapon has great penetrating power and a fast rate of fire. The armor allows for one hand firing on the move from un-augmented humans. Plasma pistols give them the ability to handle most ground based vehicles (disable and finish with grenades in hatches or weapon barrels) that could threaten them, as well as a last resort weapon if their massive amount of ammunition gets used up (possible). Then to top is off the combination of a fast sustainable movement speed (like 45 KPH un-augmented for hours with little exertion) and immense strength allow for quick assaults/retreats or close combat victories (helps to have vibro blades that can’t be forced out of your hand and the reflex augmentations).

All in all an effective and relatively cheap standard soldier. They won't do so well in infiltration, tank hunting, or defending themselves from aircraft, but they are defiantly great at ground pounding. I guess some specialty weapons can always be thrown their way if excessive vehicles are detected.

Let's see, try Pax Swiss Guard armor from the Endymion series, combined with a military Culture gelsuit, starbreaker rifles from the Xeelee Sequence, and the one wearing it would be a Jurai Knight from Tenchi Muyo.

The Clone army, enough said.

The deul of the fates would win

No lantern rings?

Fine.

Human with Sinestro Corps ring.

t3h Looke Skywalkerz, lotfl.

A Cyborg (Robocop) Symbioted (spiderman 3) covenant Elite (Halo) who knows the force (Star wars) and uses an energy scythe (phantasy star online)

Standard infantry? I'd have to go with a stormtrooper for the basic, but with a bit more freedom. But instead of the usual armor, it has cybermen casing, stormtrooper armor hybrid, and allows the ability to become camouflaged for a few moments and deflect some weak blasters. For the main weapon, a Dalek blaster also modified with a handle. Secondary would be a crossbow. Three thermal detonaters, and a sonic screwdriver, which acts as a screwdriver, lock pick, flashlight, tracker, disruptor, etc, etc...

Of coarse, with a standard infantry theres some specially trained ones. Assassins with a vibroblade and a crossbow, snipers, Shock troopers with a Dalek blaster and rocket launchers.

And of coarse there is the fact of the standard vessel in which they go into battle. For land there are Warthogs with a turbo laser on the back instead of the gun turret. And for battles in space, the basic fighter is a X-wing, but the engine and blasters are those from the banshee. They still carry proton torpedoes.
