K, lets mix it up a bit. Instead of just posting your dream team of Avengers state what you guys feel make someone Avengers worthy.
Personally I think it has less to do with powers and more about character. I'd definitely choose Ant-Man or Hawkeye over the Hulk to be an Avenger cause while Hulk greatly outclasses them on the battlefield, imo, Clint and Scott examplify true heroism as opposed to just power. So do you base your Avengers on character, or power or a nice mixture of both. I'm more of a street leveler guy so I know my tastes won't suit everyone elses. Thoughts?

Wait a minute. Are you telling me Hulk doesn't examplify heroism? Hulk is one of the greatest heroes there is. He always comes to the rescue despite his rage or anger. Just look at what he is doing right now. He's saved an entire planet from tyranny and opression.
The Avengers have always been a team where members come in and out on a regular basis. Personally i don't really care who they are as long as the writing and art is good.

Not saying the Hulk isn't a hero, but in comparison to Spider-Man he kinda falls short. Hulk would really just rather be left alone while Spider-Man would rather risk his neck to save someone

He wants to be left alone b/c he knows he is a monster, and if he gets out of control he will hurt people. Which is exactly why IMO he is a greater hero than alot of other characters. Despite the fact he wants to be by himself he still manages to go out there and risk dieing to save people. He always says he wants to be left alone, yet he always seems to find himself in the middle of saving Earth or another planet from a world ending threat.
I agree with you on one thing though. Hulk doesn't really make a good teammate, hence i don't think he makes a good Avenger. However, great hero he is in every sense of the word. Maybe anti-hero is a better term to describe him.

Anti-hero I'd give him. Hero of epic proportions? I'd say no. Fact is he's too out of control. He may have saved the world many times over but exactly how many times he's has gone around causing loads and loads of destruction? Bruce Banner imo is the hero. The one who knows he's a danger to everyone around him so thats why he isolates himself. Hulk on the other hand doesn't share his views most of the time and I'm not very inclined to put him in the same boat as Spider-Man. In the clutch you can definitely can on him to save you but moreso than not you can also count on him to put you in danger in the first place.

I agree entirely, which is why I'm particularly looking forward to the forthcoming New Avengers line up. IMO Marvel are Brilliant at developing personalities, and characters surviving over whelming odds through courage and determinism. If i want to see Uber powerful heroes fight sentient universes, and reality destroying Gods, I'll read the JLA.

Well to be fair the last few issues under John's was pretty character driven and the relaunch under Meltzer has been fantastic in terms of characterization so far. Meltzer seems to want to write solid stories with good characters above all else, and even though the book is moving at a snails pace I still enough it.
New Avengers looks to be continuing the tradition of great characters/personalities and wonderful interactions so I'm also very much looking for that

Its hard to develop the characterisations of established idols, i.e. FAR too risky. Don't expect too much personality development in the case of the Trinity. Last time someone did that, i.e. Morisson with Batman, D.C. had to create a 2nd Crisis to reconcile it. 🙂
