Ron Paul is the be all end all answer to Republicanism. He's got my vote and anyone else I can convince to vote for him.

Results of the Ames Straw Poll:

1. Mitt Romney: 31.5% (4516 votes)
2. Mike Huckabee: 18.1% (2587)
3. Sam Brownback: 15.3% (2192)
4. Tom Tancredo: 13.7% (1960)
5. Ron Paul: 9.1% (1305)
6. Tommy Thompson: 7.3% (1039)
7. Fred Thompson: 1.4% (203)
8. Rudy Giuliani: 1.3% (183)
9. Duncan Hunter: 1.2% (174)
10. John McCain: 0.3% (101)
11. John Cox: 0.1% (41)

Ames Straw Poll (Wikipedia)

A strong finish for Romney, but doubly so for Mike Huckabee.

Fmr. Gov. Tommy Thompson (R-WI) said many times that if he doesn't finish 1st of 2nd, he'd probably drop out of the race. So it looks like his candidacy is over.

...and Thompson is officially out

So..9% now. Maybe they give him some more airtime now.

Oh, it looked like you said .9% Sorry.

And that was back in August.

Hey, are those polls correct:

And what if anything do they say?

I have no reason to doubt that they're inaccurate.

And they say that Ron Paul has a dedicated fanbase among Libertarians and Libertarian Republicans. However, Paul has very little crossover appeal. He'll never win the support of the current Republican voting base, and Democrats don't agree with him either.

They say a lot of the people "voting" for him, likely aren't listening to what he says.

Sad.

Why?

I like Ron Paul. I've said that since I first heard him speak. But I have said a number of times that his foreign policy is naive. And even a great number of the people who support him must not be listening to his ideas about the federal government. Bush bankrupted the budget. Bush has expanded the federal bureaucracy. We all get that. But, Paul would like to dismantle a number of federal departments that the citizens of this country have come to depend on.

And while I doubt he could pass such legislation as President, I am uncomfortable with the idea that he'd like to.

Don't you think less bureaucracy is a decent idea?

Less bureaucracy is a good thing. Elimination of the federal government, is not.

I assume he would only get rid of things that he can get rid of.

Yeah, which realistically isn't much. So, if it's a practical impossiblity, then why run on such a platform?

His politics simply go back too far.
