saw III sucks?

To the person who initially started this thread, DraconianDevil´s advice is so far the best, rent the movie judge for yourself and if you like it, then add it to your dvd collection, if not, fine as well.
Personally, SAW I is the best. Minimum budget, minimum set, and that claustrophobic vibe is delivered, first time I saw it -in a movie night when SAW II came out - they theatre screwed up and I saw 1/4th of it upside down, backwards considering plot as well as language. But the ending is just amazing. SAW II could not keep up with it, basically cause it was mostly a different script writer, less improvised and sorry, but a time twist can be seen relatively regularly on tv. SAW III, it´s a nice combination of HOME IMPROVEMENT and EMERGENCY ROOM and maybe DR. HOUSE. The traps were okay. That judge´s death was pure stupidity. SAW IV, well I´ll wait and see.
As for mindless violence. After Freddy, Michael, Jason, Black Christmas, Texas Chainsaws, Wrong Turns, Scream, I know what you did/will do/ are doing/ have done.... , and as has already been mentioned HOSTEL that argument is kind of rediculous. I am not claiming that horror has only to include visual violence, wolf Creek works a lot with imagination, partially so does SAW, but if you don´t like mindless violence, go back to BRING IT ON and AMERICAN PIE, it´s also franchising and the only thing that is mindless or actually just redundant is the plot.

All of the Saw movies are pretty lame.

I don't really understand why there was a series to begin with. It should have never been.

Saw III was bad - lots of mindless violence. And the rumours of Saw IV make me cringe further.

Ew.

I heard they were making a Saw 4 just to spell it like "S4w". Heh. Really stupid if you ask me. But then again - the whole idea of creating the Saw series is stupid.

I liked the first Saw because it was more of a crime/murder mystery movie. The twist was totally unexpected (even if it is highly unlikely that an old man could lay there for hours without giving it away that he's alive), and there wasn't even that much gore except for a few blood squirts and imagination. But now as for the other two - those were seriously pure shit. You could tell the creators behind Saw realized that audiences love twists and they love gore, so that's all that Saw II and III were......which was stupid. Those two movies were made just to attract assholes who think that all you need to make a good movie is torture and a subtle twist at the end. Blech.

I had it figured early.

Well... I guess I'm not that bright sometimes. How did you figure it out early? You just figured out what would be one of the most unlikely things they could pull on the audience at the last minute?

A twist not being seen doesn't mean it's good. It's not hard to make a twist ending that can't be predicted, just pull something random and worthless out of your ass, not hard.

I didn't see the Saw ending coming, but it was still disappointing, because it was worthless aside from the "haha, didn't see that coming, hahaha we got you!" factor.

Saw 1 could pull it off, it was new and fresh
Saw 2 was a tad silly but still fun.
Saw 3 was absolutly ridiculous, over the top and NOT enjoyable!
Saw 4 will be garbage i think.

I totally agree. To me, the 'saw' franchise was crap from the get go. I was pissed at the end because the ending was pulled out of the writers asses, just for shock/surprise factor. Didn't bother seening the others.

Back to SAW III.
Yeah, it lacked. It lacked suspense, except for - of course - the question "will he die or not". I would not use the puke smilicon for it, but it was weaker. Cinematography was worse but hey, it´s a series. Some parts are bound to be weaker than others. Like I said, it´s a mix of Emergency Room/House with Home Improvement.

I enjoyed the whole series
