And I certainly don't see Dr. Strangelove on that list, yet I'd say that it's easily one of the best of all time (not that I'm biased)

Point of information: Saying that George Lucas merely "did alot for summer blockbusters and Sci-FI, for whatever that's worth" is factually innacurate.

Well, to assist you:

George Lucas, no matter how hackneyed he's become recently, revolutionized cinema as a whole with Star Wars (and Indiana Jones), not just 'sci-fi and summer blockbusters." Virtually all movies since then have been influenced by it in some way. That's the lasting effect of a great film or filmmaker. Kubrick did it with his films. Tarantino will likely influence films for decades to come, and he in turn was influenced by great films. It's a neverending cycle
