It takes about as much time for a normal tongue piercing to heal: 7 to 10 days. It really depends on what method is used for the procedure. Hot irons cauterize the wound, whereas a scalpel splitting might take a little bit longer.

So I've been told and read.

Pro: I could whistle better.

Con: I wanna make leather boots out of you now...

After a while you would work past the lisping because you'll have mastered how to speak with the forked tongue, but the same can be said about the large piercing.
