I don't have idols..sis. Why would I need some?
I dislike aspects of West as much as you, but rationality in Islam? Thats far fetched, even for me.
Are you gonna tell me now Wahabbis are moderate good Muslims as well? Don't think so.
If everyone was a Sufi, then maybe we can argue about rationality in Islam - till then - no.
...
For those not familiar, Sufism is like Islam Lite.

Oh well ..in Islam there is nothing that says: close your eyes and follow me. In fact, the very act of following others without personal knowledge and research is forbidden in Islam.look for the verses with the word `aql or "mind" (or its derivatives) in the Quran and you will find hundreds of examples ..
And speaking about Wahhabism ..it doesnt necessarily mean extremism and roughness , many Salafis are very pious and kind .and Suffis arent better than them only becuase they focus more on spirituality and purity ..
let us judge the actions and not the labels and names

Don't be so negative. 😱 😆 Wouldn't Christians do the same (ie. blow people up) if "God" told them too? 😄

muslimscholarI am really not trying to be confrontational, in fact, I am in no way trying to insult or insinuate anything about your religion.
However, as a westerner, I have a conception of certain parts of Islam as being negative in the way I view the world. For instance, while I agree with a lot of what Sayyid Qutb has said about Americans being fixated on materialistic culture and those things, I disagree with some of his more radical conclusions, like those that called for the assassination of a former Egyptian leader.
What I would really like yo to do is paint Sayyid Qutb, for me, in the light that you see him in. I am genuinely interested in hearing why he is a powerful and influential scholar in the religion from one of the followers of the faith, especially given the negative connotation of his beliefs in western society.
if any Muslim could clear this up for me I would really be happy
Here's a question I'd be curious to get an Islamic perspective on. I'm LDS and one of the books we consider scripture is the Book of Mormon. Here's a verse from it:
19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
Since I understand that Islam translates to submission or surrender to God, I was wondering what a muslim would think of the above verse.

I think they would reject Mormonism as the empty blasphemous hoax it is.

Islam is a submittion to the will of Allah, and it does not recognize any other religion.Remember - La ilaha il Allah, Muhammad-ur-Rasool-Allah
There is NO God But Allah, Muhammad is his messenger.
It does say in the Koran somewhere...
"you have your religion and let me have mine"
Let me know which verse says such...
The Quran recognizes no other religion but Islam (Verse 3:85).
Quran tells Muslims to kill the disbelievers wherever they find them (Verse 2:191), murder them and treat them harshly (Verse 9:123), slay them (Verse 9:5), fight with them (Verse 8:65 ), strive against them with great endeavor (Verse 25:52), be stern with them because they belong to hell (Verse 66:9) and strike off their heads; then after making a “wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives” for ransom (Verse 47:4).
This is how the pagans are to be treated. As for the Christians and the Jews, the order is to subdue them and impose on them a penalty tax, after humiliating them (Verse 9:29) and if they resist, kill them.
It condemns those who do not believe to hellfire (Verse 5:10), calls them najis (filthy, untouchable, impure) (Verse 9:28), orders the Muslims to fight them until no other religion except Islam is left (Verse 2:193), slay or crucify or cut the hands and the feet of the unbelievers and to expel them from the land with disgrace.
It stresses that the disbelievers shall have a great punishment in the world hereafter (Verse 5:34) and figuratively depicts a horrendous chastisement for them stating that they will go to hell to drink boiling water (Verse 14:17), that they will be engulfed in smoke and flames like the wall and the roof of a tent and if they implore relief they will be granted water like melting brass that will scald their faces, (Verse 18:29) and that "garments of fire shall be cut and there shall be poured over their heads boiling water whereby whatever is in their bowels and skin shall be dissolved and they will be punished with hooked iron rods” (Verse 22:19).
It also prohibits Muslims to associate with their own brothers and fathers if they are non-believers (Verse 9:23), (Verse 3:28).
