What if Superman wasn't a dush?
Seriously did anyone see the last episode of Smallville,"Crimson"?
It was Clark effected by red kryptonite making him lose his inhibitions. This was actually a version of him I could actually find interest in and come to really appreciate. A version of Clark thats still Clark just not so damn unbelievably perfect. I could even come to enjoy all that power if it wasn't just like he could handle it just fine without any level of corruption. I don't want to make him evil or even bad really just far more human.
Some thing like one of these,
What if Clark want so damn perfect?
What if Superman was permanently effected by red kryptonite?
What if an alternate version of Kal-El (without the boyscout personality) had to live on Earth with Clark?
What if Clark's personality was that of an average good person?

The same thing that happens to every omnipotent mortal....He becomes a whiny emo, rearranges the universe so that he doesn't have to cut himself,Jobbs to Superman,Creates a Crisis that somehow involves Infinity,Jobbs to supes some more,Then has a change of heart and saves the universe.
He is then resurrected years later in a god-awful storyline and fails to contribute to the universe in any way shape or form.
