They are not that important...important enough to have a role, but not critical.

R2 and 3PO are important in the OT, not in the PT.

They should have had a bigger part in the PT, and 3PO should have been more "put together" in TPM

Simple i identify with Jedi Master Qui Gon Jinn im REBELLIOUS troubleing aint it...and i usually dont have good luck but i put up a good fight trying to do what im trying to do.....AND SERIOUSLY QUI GON SHOULD HAVE BEAT THE LIVEING CRAP OUT OF MAUL! i mean god HES A FREAKING JEDI MASTER AGINST A SITH APPRENTACE! seriously i was dissapointed.....but hay like i sayed iv never had good luck =(
