Because Brown is red, well more orange, but orange is a type of red. So it became red by default.

actually brown is an equal mixture of all three primary colour (red, blue and yellow) and the shade of brown depends on the amount of one colour is added to it.

Keep in mind that brown or black has a lot red pigment, and if you apply a permanent color on kmc, it will result in a red/orange tone. 馃槢
