Once Thanos merged with THOTI he personally comments on the fact that The Heart was indeed a greater power source then the IG.

Yeah but even though it destroyed a multiverse, there were still other multiverses/universes around that it didn't destroy, like the one Adam Warlock and Death were in.
They were completely outside the planes of existance, a place where Thanos's newfound powers were unable to reach.
