Saint Seiya was one of the first animés to be exported from Japan in the 80's, regardless that in the US it was known until the late 90's ( or 2000's??).
The animation, characters, concept and plot has been copied to some extent in many of the most popular animés trough the years: practically every animé showing some sort of special-powered or sacred warriors ,including Dragon Ball Z, Inuyasha, digimon, etc.. 😄
It was a thrill the watch the new OVA's of the Hades Saga, almost 20 years after the original TV series. The writing is better than ever, as well as the animation, and the whole series still rocks.
Saint Seiya is probably the most popular animé worldwide, oh well, in the US probably not because it was broadcoasted many years after it was broadcasted in the rest of the world... 😮
and many people think Pokemon, Dragon Ball, and many others that are mostly crap 😘 are the big deal, simply because they never had the chance to watch Saint Seiya before... 😕
I'm not much in to anime, dbz and pokemon when I was a kid is about it but Naruto imo is the fuxin best. I watched from episode 1 to 150 in like 3months, there was something about the story that really pulled me in, quite moving at some parts lol. The fight scenes are excellent and probably why I like it so much.
When the hell did Pokemon get 489 episodes? Thought that finished years ago.

Some other animes that will get hooked are Bleach, One Piece, and Hunter X Hunter. Those are some of the best anime out there right now along with Naruto. You should check them out when ever you decide looking at a good anime again!
