I'm saying Batman looks iffy based on a comment from DC.

No one really ever gets that dorky fans like us know more about the characters than writers. To me, it's a non-issue. I could lecture Stan Lee himself about Spidey's powers and feat. Does that make me a better fan, or writer? No on both counts. But they aren't the final word about anything in comics....even the respected ones. Unless a writer has almost sole rights to their showings, they're just one opinion among many other informed ones.

Also, good times with Coutdown. I figured they'd save something like Monarch v. Emo until FC itself. Makes you wonder if they aren't blowing their load a bit early, or if they have bigger things in store. Because they have to wrap this up in about 10 issues or so and get it ready for FC...it has to come to a brief stopping point where all factors are brought together and they metaphorically say "Well, here it is" rather than just a smooth transition from Countdown to FC, which would be a letdown.

Or it could be the fact that, along with anyone who reads comic books for more than fights, they really don't give a damn about power levels.

Thank god. If the writers did, comics would be so vastly more boring.

I prefer to see it as a reminder of the fact that despite his vast power and the way he's been tearing through the world, SMP is really just a high school age boy. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing- he's scared and lost and really just wants to find his home. He's not 'bad-ass' at all, in my opinion. Just a desperate kid with way, way too much power.

On another topic, a blogger noted that SMP grew up reading about these people in comics- to an extent, none of the people he's been killing are really real to him. They're characters. I find that an interesting way to view his actions. In his mind, he hasn't been committing murder because he's killing off what to him would seem to be figments of his imagination brought to life. Not real people.

Well, Grant Morrison's next arc is called "RIP Batman," or something to that extent. And all that Yesterday/Tomorrow/Today stuff had Batman dying.

Plus with Jason taking on the Red Hood costume from KC- and the hyping up of Nightwing in Infinite Crisis... and the tagline that they had: "Heroes die, legends live forever," or whatnot... pretty sure Batman won't be making it out of this alive.

But then again, I doubt he'll be permanently dead either. Next crisis rolls around, Bats will probably be reset to status quo. Only person in comics who stays dead is Uncle Ben.

But still,batman dying would make a great storyline,what with Jason and Dick competing,and probably some other heroes trying to fill the void.

Plus,Grant Morrison is gonna kill Martian Manhunter off.He always has the exact same thing happen to Jonn...
