Why can't csm Smilies be used in your sig-space?

I was just curious if anyone knows why you cannot place custom smilies in the same place as your sig.

You can place the normal smilies there, so why not custom smilies?

No, people abused the privilege and used far too many in their signatures, as far as I'm aware. So it was restricted 🙂

It's true, I would have put an army of herbnone in my sig if I could have.
