I'm not really sure as to my opinion on the bloke yet, the tax slashes he did were impressive but also pretty pointless.
What tax slashes? we're now the most heavily-taxed nation in Europe thanks to him. You can't do anything without being taxed for it. Birth, life, work, home, food, car, death, everything.....

Have ya not seen the council tax slash he is planning to make council tax only 20p which is the lowest in 75 years, also planning to provide more child benefits etc To do this landfill sites will have heavier taxes as will gas guzzling cars. Which by me is ok.

its income tax...and it's a con...there are 3 tax brackets...the 10% bracket for the lowest earners, the 22% bracket (which is the one being lowered) and the 40% bracket for people earning upwards of £34,000 a year
the 10% bracket is being scrapped so anyone in that bracket automatically moves up to 20% and loses a massive chunk of their already meagre earnings...

Ah right, sorry I tried researching but couldn't find any info on it. Well then yes that's awful, another punch in the face for the working classes of our country. Seems to me that this government is adopting a lot of Thatcher's oppressive policies.

Most heavily taxed nation? If those figures below were right, you don't even come close to Holland, let alone stand a nation like Sweden..
Which btw: Is the most heavily taxed nation in the European Union, with a average tax of 52%...
(highest tax level in Holland, and apparently 12% more then the highest British tax level)

but that is only income tax...the uk is subject to the following
council tax (vairent on value of home but average of £1000 a year)
national insurance (varies as income tax does on earnings)
road tax (currently at £200 and about to be doubled over next 2 years)
fuel duty is currently 65% of fuel costs (which is on average 89.9p per litre (or £4.80 a gallon or US equivalent of $9.42 per gallon
the current average is estimated at around 50% not including VAT on all purchased goods which stands at 17.5%
the perfect example of Brown's hypocrisy is when he raided nearly £50,000,000,000 from private pension funds and left thousands of people with virtually worthless pensions while at the same time trying to encourage people to save by scaremongering saying that the government wouldn't be able to sustain an aging population
he is scum and i'm emigrating as soon as my studies are finished next summer cause i no longer want to contribute to this sickening and pathetic excuse for a government

Holland has all of those things, we only have a 19% tax rate on everything not essential to stay alive... 3% for food, 6% for educational things.
The other taxes I don't know for sure, I know that a liter of petrol here costs about € 1.29 per liter... Making it roughly € 5,16 per gallon.
Which equals about 3 and a half pound..
well what do you know, we don't have the highest gas prices in the world after all 🙂
Anyways as for the rest, that is pretty standard stuff.. Most country's have that, and income tax is the single biggest tax factor you could ever have, so let's be honest here. Sweden just takes the cake.
