The Long Halloween

I was thinking about picking this up today.

What do you guys think of it?

Is it good?

One of the best Batman stories of all time, so yeah... it's decent. 😛

Possibly the best Batman story I've ever read.

very good story. Not up there with Frank Miller's work, though... don't care what anybody else says, Miller's Bats gave the Dark Knight some cajones.

I never managed to enjoy Frank Miller's Year One because I was unable to translate the writing in the "white boxes" I think it was Wayne/Batmans thoughts/diary.

Just picked this up, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

I wanted to read Batman: Year One first (which I just finished).

So now I may begin.

It is very good.

Just started this yesterday and I'm about a quarter done with it.

I like it a lot so far.

Tim Sale's art has grown on me.

I bought this book last week, due to the positive feedback of this forum.. I must say that it really is a great book. I been reading Batman comics for over ten years now, and I can't believe I have always neglected this book. Easily one of the best Batman stories out there.

Is it better than Hush?

I liked Sale's art... but I did not like Loeb's interpretation of the Scarecrow... I mean what is up with making him speak in nursery rhymes? Why do people do this!?! It angers me... the man is a genius... sure he's nuts, but not so much that he can only communicate in Mother Goose!

But on another note... yes, the Long Halloween is one of the best Bats stories I've ever read... not the best of all time, but pretty freaking far up there.

Is it better than hush, Hmmm. Thats a tough call. I can't compare b/c both are in different time era's. Long Halloween is in the early batman days, while hush is more recent in Batman's life. I think both are great, and if I had to choose one, I would say Hush. And its only better by a millimeter. Both fantastic

Im sure opinions would differ though.

Batman The Long Halloween is one if not the best Batman stories I've ever read. Its a great graphic novel. Also what Chris Nolan is using as a template for The Joker.
