Best Sci Fi Soundtrack

For me it's Joan Baez on silent running. It fitted the film beautifully.

What are your thoughts?

John Williams on Star Wars, it was perfect.

yeah, i think it's pretty hard to argue the power that williams' music holds. Had Williams not been apart of star wars, i doubt there would have been an empire strikes back. He is the reason star wars is titled a space opera.

Not sure of his name, he was the guy who did the music or star trek 2 and aliens. I would deffinently say that guy is noteworthy. The soundtrack to Aliens influences nearly all of the suspense that the movie offers.

2001 is probably worth mentioning aswell, even though i loathe that movie

It also had lightsabers.

Star wars OT is of course legendary and the TPM soundtrack is great
Across the stars is good too......very emotinal....shame there wasnt the visuals to match

but my fave is the 1968 Planet of The Apes soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith

For me, the ROTS soundtrack is the best, The battle of the heroes is incredible, followed closely by Anakins betrayal. The best song in the OT for me was, Death of Yoda.

Don't forget the soundtrack to Stargate. It's been used in dozens of other movies and television shows.

But Star Wars has always been the best in my opinion.

Like everyone has said, I have to say Star Wars.

Other than the obvious though, I'm gonna go ahead and say The Fountain.

That had a very well-done score.

ALIEN and ALIENS were great and Blade Runner as well.

star wars hands down every one of them was amazing

Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, and Joel Golsmith- (Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate) all make wonderful soundtracks.

Actually..David Arnold did the original Stargate score. He also did Independance Day..and quite a few others.

John Williams is...over-rated in my personal opinion. While it's hard to argue that his work has a large influence on film scores as a whole..there are other composers out there that get little to no recognition. Alan Silvestri comes to mind. His Predator score was outstanding.

Star wars soundtrack out of this world!jm

That was the original. Joel did everything after that.

I don't think he's over-rated. There is a reason he is known by many- Jurrasic Park, E.T, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws, ect..
