Jean vs. Storm

I said Jean vs. Storm out loud really fast and it sounded like "JeanStorm"....which is a great image when you concentrate on it.

An ecclectic whirlwind of jeans! So much so as to be categorized as a storm! Such awesomeness!

😎

Bah! A distance of one mile makes no difference regarding TP, as Jean’s demonstrated her telepathy can cover thousands of miles if she’s looking for someone in particular, and hundreds if not. Lightning’s not getting through her TK shield. If you look at the scans posted above, it didn’t get through Candra’s either. Besides, Candra’s not nearly as skilled as Jean anyway. Also note the scan where Storm is using wind to fly and Jean is holding her in place.

Then there’s still the bit about Jean turning off Storm’s powers. And as much as people want to tout Storm’s psi resistance, it’s a non-factor. The mind and the brain can be manipulated separately by telepaths. That’s why people can be on life support but have an active conscious, or have a consciousness and no body/brain to speak of. That’s also why Rachel was able to use Storm’s powers against Storm’s will.

Storm gets annihilated.

I'm sorry to break this to you, but.......Jean Died already 😕

Nice-an arbitrary and irrelevant comment because the truth of what I said cannot be debunked.

Thanks. 😎

This is a silly fight. In order for Jean to shut down Storm's powers telepathically, she would first have to reach into her mind. This would be true for ANY TP assault. STorm can keep out JEan easily.

Also, while I'm at it, Candra's TK>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jean's TK.

Why don't telepaths do that more often? It'll make many of their battles a lot easier.

Prove it. There’s no evidence to substantiate such a claim. Telepaths make the distinction between brain functions and consciousness. Remember Emma’s comment to Jean before she pressed the crowd’s “bliss buttons?” While powers are activated by the mind, their source lies in the body, the action lies in the brain. There need be no contact with the consciousness for that to happen. Rachel proved that with Storm. She didn’t go around Storm’s mind-it was obvious that Storm was in complete possession of her mental faculties, resisting Rachel every step of the way. Yet she couldn’t prevent Rachel from accessing her powers.

So explain to me what this has to do with the mind as opposed to the brain?

That's the very reason why. What would be the point of fights?

The burden of proof is on you. When Storm's will was written indomitably, no single telepath defeated her. It took the combined power of multiple telepaths.

Rachel proved nothing with STorm. She blatantly stated that while Ororo was unconscious, she noodled her way into her mind and created pathways, etc therefore was able to bypass her will. STill, Ororo forced Rachel to use EVERY ounce of her psi to do what she did. Those were extenuating circumstances and not something that could happen in an open fight. Earlier in the arc, Rachel tried to overcome Storm telepathically. She could not do it. Storm was too much for her.

No, my friend—the burden is on you. Show proof that turning off someone’s powers is a matter of manipulating consciousness and not the brain. Telepaths have repeatedly shown that they can control the pain (ie what the brain recognizes) that people feel by manipulating the brain itself, not the consciousness. The same principle applies to the manipulation of powers.

When Neal’s powers were going out of control, Jean turned them off. He was terrified of what was happening to him, and he was fully aware that his powers stopped working. Emma used the powers of Generation X against them, even preventing Husk from shedding. All were conscious. When Jean had only TK, Betsy was able to prevent her from accessing it by using her TP. There are three examples, in addition to the one I mentioned above. Provide evidence to the contrary.

You’ve stated this point in the past, yet you’ve provided no corroborating evidence. Besides, there’s nothing to prevent Jean from severing Storm’s brain from her nervous system or pinching nerves to make her lose consciousness.

LOL! She is a telepath. This means she has to enter your mind to do anything to you. Keep her out, and her TP is useless.

Stop dodging. I've provided on panel evidence to support my claims. Where's yours? Put up or shut.

I'm not dodging anything. That crowd had no defense against telepathic attacks. Storm has been trained how to deal with them, she has an indomitable will (arguably the strongest on the planet) and she has that electrical field in her brain that impedes TP intrusion.

You don't want to start claiming Storm has faster reflexes. I've got a few scans that say otherwise. 😈

Don't play this game, Storm is not Omega level, she's not cosmic, she's not even high meta as far as I know.

You're making an assumption. You don't know that all of the people in that crowd were human, or that none of them had ever encountered TPs before. You have nothing to go on. You have YET to prove that TPs cannot control someone's powers against their will, whereas I've provided more than enough examples. Sure Storm has been trained, but Jean IS an omega TP. Betsy was still able to prevent her from accessing her powers.

Give us proof of what you believe, not just theories and allegations.

You've got to be ****ing kidding me.

About which side of the argument?

Or just the thread as a concept?

No, you have to prove that they had defenses against TP's. Most people do not. The burden of proof is on you.

Maybe that's it's gone 3 pages? hmm
