Not really the Wiki article is pretty good and they agree it probably started due to the proximity on a qwerty keyboard.

I'm aware. But the meme originated from the typo within a trigger in an online computer game. The typo arose from the proximity, sure, but it spread due to a popular user-created-map back in the day.
