i think jack want's to get very fast on another ship perhaps, so he pulls 'his' voodoo doll in the cannon and shoots it away.
If the voodoo doll is shot away jack will flight like it, too.
Becket says: You're mad. So I think it is realy mad what he wants to do, if he wants.
When I saw the trailer the first times I thougth the cannon is connected with the rope and the recoil takes the rope and jack with it. But now i think jack uses the rope to get not smashed over the whole sea, like the doll do.
i really don´t know what to think...but i don´t see any purpose to have there voodoo...i can´t help...i don´t know...in the DMC i didn´t see the doll in the film either...well on the bandanna but NOT in the movie even though in tia´s hut there can be find really whatever 😄... but i don´t think the doll though.... i don´t know what there should do the doll...
and i still understand the trailer like "the cannon is connected with the rope and the recoil takes the rope and jack with it" well that´s what i think....
and it stands too straight...and it isn´t definitely the doll voodoo jack´s doll...maybe another doll who knows....but it isn´s this voodoo-jack... to me it more looks like beckett or someone like him...too straight and it has different as jack coat or what is it...and i see there something white on its head...
