Yes, there will be a certain amount of damage automatically present in the Matrix for the more injured of you, probably the best way to do it.

"We're heading out to the mountains again," says Marduk. "We..."

-----

As ever, the image translators show only grainy, jerky footage.

"...need to make contact with the others as soon as possible," finishes Marduk, on the monitor.

Melis, you are watching the simulation from the broadcast area on the remnants of the Percy. San and Cloud, their bodies covered in medical gear, are both hooked in.

"Ariadne wrote it, actually," says Finn. "For training purposes."

... ok, I've confused people.

San and Cloud are in a simulation of the Percy; if Melis talks to Finn I will explain.

The rest of it is all true, and in a bit we'll go back and see how it happened.

Just I wanted to give this path a poke whilst the Philo path get over their current crisis.

Yes, I am definitely confused right now...

"I don't get it," Melis says. "Why are we doing this again?"

"Because San and Cloud need to think they are much better than they really are," says Finn. "We need all hands for this. Besides, you heard what Marduk said. people like San and Cloud... doing what they do, giving them something to love for... it can make the difference between life and death."

He checks their life signs.

"Of course, it could kill them as well. But at least that will be for something. Not like... just dying in this broken ship."

(oh, well, that's fun...)

"I think I'm adding the mountains to my list of things I never want to see again..." San replies. "Probably wasted a lot of time already, though."

"So where's our destination, Cap? The fortress with the deadly spiders, or the monestary with the army of agents...?" Cloud says thinking the two choices over. "Either way we have to get our people out, we didn't just avoid saving ourselves to leave them behind now."

"Ah, okay," Melis replies. "Let's just hope they don't die at all."

OK I get it!
in the ACTUAL ship, where only Melis is, San and Cloud are majorly F'ed up
but in the SIMULATION ship, where San and Cloud THINK they are, they are better off, stabilized and stuff. so they are routed from the actual ship, into a fake ship and into the Matrix.

Ding!

Yeah, I got that once it was explained, but at first I was incredibly confused.

Neato

I take it that Mors and Burn are not so bad off?

Not so bad, no, but you will start off with damage.

"You'd better get in and meet them there," says Finn.

Understandable.

I forgot that I only had a 40 damage limit in the Real.

"Yeah, definitely," Melis says. She assumes her position in one of the Ecto chairs. "Plug me in, Finn."

And so, let's look at the events which led us up to this point...

SOME HOURS EARLIER

San and Cloud are unconscious; the meeting is in the Shez medical bay, and everyone else is around.

"We're going back in," says Dallas.

"Very well!" that'll attract squidies

"Of course we are. It's insane and dangerous; why wouldn't we be going back in?"

"We're going back, and we're sorting it all out."
