When they hear THAT they FEEL very UNCOMFORTABLE and bad...even though the person telling them this is telling them the TRUTH. It inflames their SENSIBILITIES.
On the OTHER hand...a SINNER who is a "pillar" of the community...a GOOD citizen who contributes to charities...gives to the church...feeds the poor, etc., [albeit on monies he STOLE from the public in his administration as a public servant] LOVES to hear the praise of his constituents...it makes him FEEL good and does NOT inflame his SENSIBILITIES--->even though it is a DAMNABLE LIE! However, it DOES MAKE him/her FEEL good...because an UNREPENTANT SINNER revels in his/her SIN.
BOTTOM-LINE: A "feel-good" unrepentant SINNER does NOT exhude the "fruits of the Spirit of God"... rather he/she is spiritually DEAD "For the WAGES of SIN is DEATH; but the GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord" [Romans 6:23].
