'Kryptonite' discovered in mine

It's not just some random pedantic rule- it's there to avoid the mass confusion it would cause. Chances are the whole name 'krytponite' just came from someone picking that name from the periodic table. To actually then use such a fictional term in science as well would be stupid- it implies that it contains krypton, and for what possible scientific reason would we do that?

This whole issue is idiotic. WHY is this link to kryptonite being made? It's not green., it doesn't have one single property of the fictional substance. Is the entire justification that it has a chemical formula similar to that used in a film prop in a film only released last year? That is the entire cultural and intellectual weight behind saying "Yay, we found kryptonite!"?

That's pathetic. It's just a newly discovered material.
