darthgoober's Amalgam Tournament Conformation Thread

Dane is easily Grodd level Telepathy who I think is far more powerful then Frost. With that said I STILL think he should be let in (anyone who knows the extent of this character should be able to key in why). In fact, I advise whoever took him to repick.

The wetworks team's gold symbiotes are nearly unkillable. they approach Sandman level in killability. Slight exageration, but they are more than IM level people can handle.

I was just now thinking about it and I have an idea. Since people are having a hard time making cases to ban/defend characters because they're having to rely on me as a middle man, after I announce the final amalgams tonight, there'll be a special 24 hour period(midnight to midnight my time) where characters can still be called into question and changed. However, ONLY characters that have been called into question will be allowed to switch out, to minimize switching characters in response to the make up of other amalgams. Characters that have already had final approval though CAN NOT be questioned. This is only for characters like Invincible who are still be looked into and new drafts like Dane.

This way, you guys can make your cases for/against the character to the judges without having to rely on me to relay the message properly. It will also give me a little bit of extra time to come up with who's facing who in the first round(as well as the overall format for match order). This is just an idea and if you guys don't like it that's fine(we don't have to do it), I just thought it might make things a little easier for everyone involved since cases have been difficult to make due to the secrecy surrounding character selection.

Why not just end drafts now then and give a 48 hour grace period?

So basically all characters are locked except those brought into questioning?

Works for me 😄

Goober, good plan. 👆

So ... Shadowcat? do people still have a problem with her?

So the only characters still in question are Zero and Invincible. [/B]

Which War Machine is being used and which armour is Iron Man using? ... letting him choose after seeing who he is facing would be an additional prep advantage and shouldn't really be allowed.

Which weapons will Black Knight have?

Will BP just have his standard equipment?

What powers does this version of Psylocke have exactly?

Anyone got a bio for X-Cutioner I?

Im guessing with WM and IM, that it will be an ambigous armor that has all their standard tech. No Stealth specific armor, Hulkbuster armor, or Thorbuster armor. Besides, each upgrade has almost everything from the one before it so it shouldnt really matter.

Black Knight has the Sword of light and Shield of darkness (or something along those lines), plus maybe his horse

I would assume BP only has standar equipment. Why wouldnt he? 😕

TP, Shadow porting, not sure if she had TK or not.

nope

X-cutioner's bio: http://www.uncannyxmen.net/db/characters/showquestion.asp?fldAuto=1168

and Shadowcat is in with no problems, I would say.

Maybe one problem.

Shadowcat is allowed? The hell?

I kinda remember her beating Thor for a while by melding him to the ground.

So I take it that she may or may not be allowed to phase other objects/people, but she definitely can't use her powers for the sort of attack shown in those scans?

Isn't that kind of thing a problem with everyone who has phasing? srug Theoretically, anyone who can phase can do that. Plus, wasn't Thor under a spell, berserk, or some extenuating circumstance?

No, very few phasers can do that ... Vision certainly can't.

Either way it definitely falls under the OHK/OHKO rule.

Thor wasn't under any spell or influence at that point ... the Wrecker had caused Excalibur to see him as the Juggernaut.

Didn't know that. Hmm. I guess that might be cause for a ban, unless we forbid that tactic.

No need to ban her, one of her tactics is cut out, that's all ... similar to the restrictions on telepaths ... she'd still be able to phase equipment and wreck computers by walking through them and stuff ... just not put someone inside a wall or put a rock in their head.

i thought there was no neutering . . .

This isn't technically neutering, unless she uses this tactic alot. It's like scoob said, it's similar to the TP restrictions.

Yeah, it just falls under the "no OHK/KO" rule:

Telepathy and teleporting are still being used so phasing should have the same type of rules to control its use:

No mental shutdowns, no mind control
No teleporting people's limbs off, no teleporting items into people's bodies
No phasing people into the ground, no phasing items into people

🙂

Well I'm off ... if my characters are still being questioned tomorrow I'll look into changing them.

😉

So no phasing my fist into your head? 😗

Is that part with Jamie fighting Guy a one time thing? Because from where I stand, the tech is good, but the mind behind it is a greenhorn. Jamie is inexperienced and the suit has a few hangups, like not wanting to attack nature. I'd say he'd do decently against IM, but I wouldn't give him a majority.

Edit: Not to mention the fact that the armor's AI was SCARED SHITLESS of having to fight a GL by itself.
