There's a reason why the Jedi in the films, minus Sam Jackson and a few Jedi shoved in to please the geeks, use red, blue and green sabers.

Which is why he carries a green lightsaber at one point. He's in possession of a blue lightsaber during the end of his Jedi career, where does it say the "majority of his life"?
