All I'm getting at is simply that SS wasn't really known for speed feats at the time.

So while Runner blitzing him is pretty cool, I don't think of it as a top-tier speed feat nowadays (20 years later).

Nor do I think that one particular feat would tip the scale in team 2's favor what so ever.

Because, it's the same Surfer as it was just prior to his recent power-up.
If he never accomplished said feat(s) prior to Runner beating him, I'm not going to assume he could have. 😬

it was shown that the runner had the space gem when fighting SS, and that he was usuing it Sub consciously.

That was during "Thanos Quest", (Thanos vs. Runner)

Don't bother, he doesn't read comics.

How did being over one million years old effect Runner? I thought Elders were already millions of years old and didn't age.

Yeah it was PIS, but hey it's comics.

I know.

The Elders have been around since the big bang, yet Thanos turned Runner into an old man? 🙄

I think (and hope), that the writers intended us to think that Thanos aged Runners body the equivalent of 1 million years to him, which would mean billions upon billions upon billions of years would have really passed.... See what I mean?

But it was probably just a case of the writers not thinking about what they were doing, before they did it. 🙁

So, according to you, Surfer wasn't know for his power either... since Runner completely overpowered him...

Also, this was after he was said to traverse many galaxies, after he flown throw suns, red suns, etc.
The same Surfer, who says one sentence right besides a planet, and in a continuation sentence, he is right in front of a red sun.
Oh, and here's one thing.

I'd look for more feats, but all I've read was three comics (since this time), and found one example where he is faster than light.
Plus, you have to realize he was exiled on Earth for like 4 comics before that comic.
Also, before that comic, Hulk couldn't even see him, and Thor couldn't even hit him, while he was flying.

Makes sense actually. Runner never really had to experience aging but Thanos forced him to actually age.

srug But yeah it's comics.

Now did I say that? ❌

I only remarked on speed feats. 🙂

We just don't know...

And also, that scan was of him moving forward in a straight line.

Runner beat him moving around/zigzagging, not by getting from point A to point B faster.

So while it was a good feat for Runner, at the time Surfer didn't have the established speed feats that he has now, so Runner's ownage really isn't as impressive as some people make it out to be IMO.

However, if Runner did that sort of thing to Surfer nowadays, it would be an excellent speed feat. 🙂

Your explanation is better, but still doesn't make sense. Why the hell would Thanos operate in Earth-years? He's been to thousands of planets, each with a different year cycle. Why would he decide to use Earth as any special measuring stick?

I hate it when ALIENS refer to years or lightyears, as those are man-made terms and are TOTALLY relative to the planet.

Being a universal translator is part of the comic's. Such translators include a unit converter. 😐

Umm... it's established that Runner is more powerful, based on that scene.
So, since Runner isn't as fast as we all thought( 🙄 ), is he still as powerful?

Also, I don't know, nor do I care. He was faster than light, and he is the same Surfer that we have seen since right before his recent power-up.

HE ALWAYS MOVES IN A STRAIGHT LINE!
Look at almost any of his speed feats, and he's moving in a straight line, or zigzagging.

Runner beat him by being a faster, stronger, more powerful fighter.
This was three comics after Surfer had overpowered Mephisto in his own realm.
So, even if we ignore his speed, he still overpowered Surfer.

It wouldn't be a different feat... at all. It would be the exact same.
The only difference now, is Surfer's recent power-up.

Meh, I hate it when, in ANY medium, someone not from Earth refers to years or lightyears in an Earth-way.

Gah!

Anyways - whenever something's translated, it's put into chevrons.

Orion isn't > Thor.

Superman IS >Majestic.

Orion wouldn't beat the Runner, barring an extremely high end showing.

I give it to Team two, since the hammer can likely absorb any energy the guys on team one can put out, and return it tenfold sometimes.

That's the trump card.

So Thanos just happens to speak English too no matter who he's talking to?

The universal translator is hidden. The explicit transaltor can be seen (due to the chevrons).

OK I'll admit "explicit translator" is a phrase I made up for translation that the writer want to make note of.

It was a joke...😐.

But yes, if you must know, Thanos ALWAYS speaks english. As does Annihilus. 😐.

Still doesn't explain away the whole 'unit conversion' thing. I mean, translating to the primary language is one thing. Converting all the units is totally different.

The universal translator is basicly an excuse for the writer to not have to explain every term that a character says. Do you honestly expect every writer to come up with a complete set of units for every alien species and then slip in the conversion table?

So...er...

which team wins, how & why?
